in the original show, Grayskull was a castle where a sorceress lived; the castle had Adora's sword. They changed what Grayskull is for the new show, but it still hits hard when you find out.

In the 2002 _He-Man and the Masters of the Universe_ more lore was added to Grayskull. King D'Vann Grayskull was an incomprehensibly distant ancestor of Adora and Adam. Castle Grayskull was the castle of King Grayskull. It's interesting to note that the phrase that transforms Adam into He-Man is _"By the power of Grayskull - I have the power!"_ because he is manifesting the power inherited from Grayskull while the phrase that transforms Adora into She-Ra is _"For the honor of Grayskull - I am She-Ra!"_ because She-Ra represents and defends the honor of Grayskull when she manifests the power inherited from Grayskull. It's funny that after the original shows back in the eighties there have been 3 He-Man shows and the movie and one She-Ra show where the twins don't meet. Thus them being long lost twins is no longer just part of the lore but it's also part of the metanarrative around the franchise. After all this time, it would eminently satisfying to see a show where the twins are reunited.

I noticed someone in the live comments saying they dislike Catra and dont understand why she decides to return to the Horde (or, more accurately, why she decides to refuse Adora's offer to leave the Horde together). This is sad because Catra's motivation is actually very well worked out, its just that the viewer doesn't learn most of the reasoning until the end of season 1. Catra's decision to return to the Horde is objectively a bad decision, and it is also not based on logic. Nonetheless, Catra ultimately does actually have valid reasoning for refusing Adora, and it is mostly based on the things Adora says or does in the preceding 1,5 episodes. 1) *Adora implies that she doesn't care about Catra's suffering.* We learn in episodes 11 and 12 that Catra experienced severe, systematic abuse while growing up in the Fright Zone. And the person who is responsible for this abuse is the Horde's second-in-command. This is the reason why Catra already knows the Horde is evil, because her abuser is an integral part of the Horde leadership. And Adora, as Catra's best friend, must have known about this abuse, in fact she actually witnessed some of this abuse happening as shown in episode 11. But at no point did Adora consider leaving the Horde because of this. And Adora also did not consider the Horde evil despite knowing this abuse was happening. However, when Adora sees the Horde attacking innocent civilians, that is when she decides that the Horde is evil and that she needs to leave the Horde. From Catra's perspective, Adora's sudden change of heart is extremely hypocritical, because it comes about after Adora witnesses random civilians get hurt...but not when she saw Catra get hurt. It makes it seem as if Catra's suffering was less important to Adora than the suffering of random civilians. 2) *Adora put Catra's life in danger.* When Adora sneaks out of the Fright Zone in episode 1 to look for the sword, Catra tries to go with her, but Adora refuses. At that moment it looks as if Adora is trying to protect Catra. However, from Catra's perspective it turns out that Adora was actually doing the opposite, because in episode 11 we learn that Shadow Weaver threatened to outright kill Catra if anything were to ever happen to Adora. Catra's safety is made contingent on Adora's safety. So when Adora sneaks out by herself and gets captured by Bow and Glimmer, that actually puts Catra's life in danger. 3) *Adora breaks the promise.* This is an extention of point 2. As shown in episode 11, Adora made a promise to Catra to always look out for each other, and Catra clearly considers this promise extremely important. Unfortunately, it seems Adora doesn't think the promise was important at all, to the point where Adora doesn't even remember it, because Catra actually quotes the promise to Adora in the second episode: Adora: How can you possibly be okay with this? Catra: Because it doesn't matter what they do to us, *the two of us look out for each other*, and soon we'll be the ones calling the shots. This phrasing by Catra is very intentional, she is trying to remind Adora of the promise they made. And Adora doesn't respond. Adora already broke the promise when she snuck out in episode 1, but she had an opportunity here to make it right to Catra...and she blew it. Now, to be perfectly clear, I am not saying that Adora was in any way wrong to leave the Horde. However, Adora does make a boatload of terrible mistakes in her conversation with Catra in episode 2. Adora basically says all the wrong things. She shows extreme naivety and hypocrisy when justifying her decision to leave the Horde, in the process completely disregarding the severe abuse Catra experienced. She shows a complete lack of recognition of the impact of her actions on Catra's safety, doesn't apologize for endangering Catra, and she then fails to recognize the promise that Catra apparently considers central to their relationship. Furthermore, Adora makes it very clear in the course of the conversation that she is leaving the Horde *no matter what*. But only at the very end of the conversation does she actually extend the offer to Catra, thereby almost treating Catra as an afterthought. And by this point in the conversation Catra is so upset and angry with Adora that she decides to refuse Adora's belated offer. Its a bad decision, but given the incredibly hurtful way the conversation goes, it is very understandable. Do note that I am also not really blaming Adora for these mistakes, as they were undoubtedly the result of a lifetime of Shadow Weaver's manipulations and interference, combined with the effects that childhood trauma has on the brain (its entirely possible that Adora completely repressed memories involving Catra being abused, and also the memory of the promise). Ultimately Shadow Weaver is to blame.

This Madam Razz is a LOT more tolerable than she was in the 80’s show. Her spells never really worked the first time, she had a talking broom who was super annoying, and she always said “Oh dearie my” after every sentence. She’s SO much better now. I will say however, I do miss Loo Kee who was a character who would hide in the background of every episode and you would have to spot him before the end where he will show us where he was as well as give us the lesson of the day.

Catra is committed to making.... just terrible decisions. Has a chance to leave a palce she hates, she stays. Back talks someone in higher power after failing a mission. Like putting a dish on a table and cat jumps up, you know its going to push it off the edge to break it.

Its more complicated than that. Catra is specifically asked to leave by Adora, but unfortunately Adora completely messed the prior conversation up, basically saying all the wrong things in the worst way possible, upsetting Catra so much that Catra refuses to go with her. Its not a rational decision, but given how hurtful the conversation went, it is understandable that Catra would refuse. As for backtalking Shadow Weaver, its made pretty clear over the course of season 1 that it literally doesn't matter what Catra does, Shadow Weaver will treat her badly and punish her regardless. Whether Catra plays nice or not makes no difference.

I am actually surprised that the term "Grayskull" doesn't mean anything to you. There have been several toylines, comics, shows et cetera about that before. I mean, I haven't seen He-Man before I was twenty, but I knew the phrase "by the Power of Grayskull" just through pop-cultural osmosis. By the way, that guy at the end who captured Swiftwind? It's not a spoiler because it never comes up in this show, but his name is Grizzlor and he was a recurring villain in the previous show. They don't use his name here, because he technically belongs to the He-Man IP, not She-Ra.
