As someone who suffers from chronic anxiety I can tell you that the way they portrayed the panic attack was spot on. The way Anxiety was buzzing a million miles an hour, the way the controls locked up so no one could stop it, Riley's physical symptoms like rapid breathing and increased heartrate, even the aftermath where everything felt so still and calm and Riley was just in the moment. I cried in the theater because I knew exactly how Riley was feeling. I also love how Anxiety was portrayed as a character. She was an antagonist but not a villain because she still loves Riley and wants the best for her. The problem was that because of the nature of anxiety she had a misguided view of what the best was. Anxiety is meant to protect us from the dangers we can't see, and that on it's own isn't a bad thing. But the thing about dangers we can't see is that it's harder to tell if they're real or in our heads so our anxiety can be turned on without needing to be. She was so focused on things that weren't big problems that she didn't realize she was making things harder for Riley. It's all spot on in her portrayal.

I only just thought about this, but I love that the girl Riley looks up to is such a solid role model. Like she's not the bitchy mean cool girl, she's the kind, thoughtful, supportive, inclusive cool girl. Idk I just like that messaging in kids media.

I think it was also a process of realizing that Riley *does* need anxiety, but not nearly as often as Anxiety wants to be present. Because at the beginning Joy kind of tried to shove Anxiety away the same way she did with Sadness in the first movie and as a result Anxiety grew paranoid and took full control instead, but by the end after Anxiety realized that she was hurting Riley and Joy realized Anxiety is actually useful but should still be kept in check is when everything starts working out better and there is a good balance again between in emotions and how necessary they are.

We don’t stop anxiety we live with it. It’s an emotion just like the rest of ours. If we didn’t have an anxiety, then we wouldn’t be human.. It’s OK happy felt really do work. The trick is you got to try to focus on them because if you don’t, you’re gonna start focusing on the stuff that’s making you anxious. What I like to do is try to find solutions for what I’m anxious about. For example, if I’m anxious that I’m gonna get bullied I tell myself if that happens I’ll watch Hercules to make me feel better because Hercules was bullied, but he ends up winning in the end. Heres another more extreme example I am afraid of cancer but when I start getting anxious thinking about it, I just think at least it’s not rabies. Cancer is common but dying from it isn’t as horrifying as dying from rabies or ALS.

@HenryLoenwind4 ай бұрын
As an adult? But that would skip a whole lot of emotional transitions. Going with the same 2.5-year skip like between the first and second movie would work fine. That's give us 15/16 (love/eros), 18 (leaving home/imposter syndrome), 21 (transitioning from school to job), 23 (long-term relationship/marriage/career; i.e. "the great branching"). After that, the brain has settled and wouldn't undergo fundamental changes anymore, reducing the message to "how to handle external situation X".

3rd one I think will deal with leaving for college. Itll kinda be similar to the first one in a way where , but different enough cause it’s the first time where a lot of ppl are on their own pretty much . Or just like the stress of ur senior year of just tryna live ur own life, possibly having a job but also school like exams and figuring out what u wanna do after high school . As far as who will be the “antagonist “ or this movies sadness, I’m not sure tbh . I think stress will play a huge role but that’s not really an emotion

Funny how we come back to bottling up the emotions once again. In the first movie. Joy tried to bottle up all the emotions and tried to make Riley to be only happy. and tried to cast out Sadness. But now we have it happening again and now, Joy and the others are all getting shut out by the new emotions. Okay. Who's been talking to Dora the Explorer. We have a talking bag. This is straight out of Dora. This was so good. I liked this reaction. And this movie is good. And can you believe it Inside out 3 is already in the works.

Yeah, Scoot. After I came out of that theater on opening night, I was absolutely amazed and stunned of what I just witnessed. This sequel has stepped up the reality of the emotional panel that now, it’s becoming too real. Like you, I too was feeling upset that Anxiety was taking complete control of the console that Riley’s Sense of Self is all just her, especially with the statement, “I’m not good enough.” From there, I was remembering how I was in my younger years when fitting in wasn’t working for me. Later on, I realized that it is very overrated because if you let yourself be integrated, you’ll eventually become like a robot: one who is either similar or exactly like everyone else. Therefore, it also pissed me off that they were changing Riley so much that she was pushing away the only friends she ever had after moving into California. I like how you said about she’s all of those things because I mentioned this to someone else saying that our memories, whether good or bad, make us who we are as a person and only we can decide who we want to be. I took this to heart because although I regret many things, I’m comfortable with my identity and no one can take that away from me, even if they threatened me so badly.
