I got a chausie kitten from a rescue. He is very intelligent, loving, and hyper. He talks a lot. At 7 months old he has figured out to open doors, flush the toilet and knock screens out of windows. He is in to everything, including Christmas gifts and my nephew's Lego's. I love my Jeffrey and I'm a dog person. He drives my other cat crazy. He's definitely a handful but a loyal, good cat.

I JUST saw this video!! What caught my eye was how much it looked like our cat “Lola”!! Once it reached the part about being bread in Northern California my husband and I KNEW THIS CAT was the “base” of our “Mixed Breed Blue Point Siamese”. She was a WILD ANIMAL as a kitten. Because she was sooooooo hyper I KNEW she HAD to have Abyssinian in her but didn’t know for sure until the “ticking” in her coat started showing as she was solid blue/gray as a baby. When we started questioning about her background I just KNEW there was wild cat in her. We got her from an Ad and the person who want $30 for her NEVER answered any of our calls. We discussed her odd behavior with our vet and were told that there was starting to show up a mixed breed cat that was based on a wild cat mix and they had started crossing with Siamese to “CALM THEM DOWN”!! I fully believe THIS is what we HAVE. She was born August 2010 in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA!! We lived in Sacramento, CA at that time. Lola is 19 lbs but NOT trim, she very overweight. We have other cats and she does not “play well with others” so she has claimed one room in the house as hers and doesn’t venture out much. She is a loyal companion with her people but no one else. THANK YOU CATS101 for this segment as you have solved the riddle of Lola!! Oh, to say they are active is a “understatement”!! When Lola was a kitten she would run down the hallway and jump on our sectional sofa hitting back cushions parallel to the floor, run FULL SPEED at that angle and then jumping off to head back down the hallway!! They also are VERY ACTIVE AT NIGHT!! We got her for our daughter as she has a sleeping disorder and Lola was her bedtime buddy. She had NO PROBLEM being up at all hours of the night with her until she finally would fall asleep. We love her and would never part with her but she IS A WILD CAT!! I have scars to prove it as she WILL scratch and bite if she feels threatened or does NOT want to do something. I am the only one in the house she cannot scare!! I don’t put up with her nonsense and she knows it. My husband and daughter will not put their hand on her if she growls; I just tell her to knock it off and deal with her anyway. She KNOWS NOT to bite me, but I do get the occasional scratch. I’m 69, had cats in my home for as long as can remember so I KNOW THEM, and THEY KNOW IT TOO!! They don’t mess with me much. AGAIN, GREAT VIDEO!!

I don't have a chausi, but I HAVE had a cat with an allergy to gluten and it's very difficult for people on a low income to be able to feed their cats what they need and still be able to eat supper themselves. For treats I recommend Origen Freeze dried meat treats and My Mighty Lion Meat treats. And make sure you give your cat an egg a day for their coat teeth and bones.

It says no plant matter for this cat, but really all cats are obligate carnivores, and do much better on a diet of ground prey. A whole small animal, like a rabbit or muskrat-sans skin and intestine-fed through the grinder is really the BEST feed for your cat. Portioned out and placed in the freezer in individual baggies is what my friend does, which makes it convenient and kills pathogens, while keeping it raw to preserve the taurine-which is destroyed if you cook it-that kitties need. Cat 'food' in the stores is not actually good for them, no matter what the branding says.

kupigana - No cat or dog is a good pet for vegans. :P But I am a bit skeptical about the Chausie's inability to digest plant matter. All small wild cats that eat rodents and such, will get some plant matter in them, as they eat their prey's food as well. tillycupcake - He killed DOGS? :O

please,before you buy,LEARN the breed! I had an F1 male and he was wild and vicious from a little kitten,he even took a chunk out of the vets arm when he got a shot. He could easily jump 8 ft. don't get an F1. I paid ALOT of money and the cat chose outdoor life,the neighbors were always calling animal control. He would just walk in anyones house like he owned the place,he killed a lot of animals including cats and dogs. these cats don't make good pets
