Cats hear and smell much better than dogs! Question is, how do we train cats to do things that dogs do? Yeah, you don’t! Dogs are always very eager to please but you try to get a cat to do a trick and your purring friend quickly says, “make me!”

Actually cats have already been known to sniff out diseases. There are examples of cats alerting their humans to cancer for goodness sakes! Dogs have been trained for many years to do all those things they do. Cats are only relatively recently domesticated so there's no telling what they'd be capable of! Check out the channel "Catmantoo" and learn just what cats can be trained to do! His cat Didga rides a skateboard and does Parkour for goodness sakes!

Cats can/will help with health. My cats both know I have health issues. Female can tell when something is wrong with my blood sugar she wakes my kid up by walking pacing meowing at them then she does same to me then kid checks me n gives me things to raise it. They also watch when stop breathing n wait to make sure I take a breath. They're also good for mental issues PTSD anxiety etc. That's case with our particular kitties. Everyone has their own opinions. Prayers for everyone 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I know my cat hates scented things. I washed my clothes at a laundromat and I had scented dryer sheet smell on my laundry from whoever was there before me. Well, my kitty decided to take a poo on them to help them smell better! (I have to have skin problems and live in a scent and dye free world when possible, and I think my kitty appreciates that.) He also won't use the litter box if the litter on the shelf was too close to a scented litter. I love my kitty and never get mad at him for "trying to make things smell better" in his own way 😸

We have cats and dogs; my cat likes to be close to me BEFORE I shower. I think stinky is better for cats! My beagle and I don’t go on walks; we go for sniffs. She loves to follow her nose, and I like walking with her. Amazing companions. Oh, my dad accused me of witchcraft, jokingly, because my dogs and cat get along very well. lol

Wrong! Cats are known for alerting their humans to all kinds of disease! Cancer included! And don't have to be trained to do it! But about that... yes cats can be trained and there are examples all over KZbin of cats doing tricks. The same tricks dogs do; high five, play dead etc. One of the best examples is the kitty in Australia - Didga - (not even a breed known for high intelligence) who's been trained to ride a skateboard and do parkour! Cats have not had the years of domestication dogs have had but in less time they're catching up. Not only because they're hearing is better but because they've got a ton more neurons in their little heads than dogs do; giving them the edge when it comes to absorbing information generally. Time to move past the stereotyping of cats as being non-caring, aloof, and untrainable for whatever reason. Cats are actually more amazing than we give them credit for. The Egyptians seemed to know this!

My Siberian kitten smells things almost as much as our dogs do. (his ancestors may have been wild as little as 100 years ago) Our two normal cats perk up when something unusual in smell wafts through the room, but only sniff when you open their food. Unless my dog just came home from the groomer cats smell better than dogs 😜

More research has been done on dogs because, well, we live in a more dog centric society. As research on cats grows we're learning that cats excel in a number of ways. For instance cats have been found to have far more brain neurons than dogs! This likely implies that they have the potential to absorb more information than dogs. Cats excel in a number of ways (they're capable of up to 100 vocalizations compared to dogs' 10) yet that information is hard to swallow in a dog culture. I prefer cats to dogs because I find them much more interesting but I also love dogs - they're both wonderful. But I look forward to a time when cat stereotypes are fully and finally put to rest.

I can't imagine how much "scent noise" these animals are likely to be bombarded with daily. If you've just put some scented hand cream on and give your cat a pat, I'm thankful they haven't become violent to stop us covering them with, what must be, an overpowering smell! Thankfully kitties have some patience.

I miss my cats. I dumped my ex lady and she took my cats. My cuz encouraged me to keep his dog for awhile. She's a sweetheart but going to give her back soon. My niece have two cats for me. I grew up with dogs and will always love them. However, move over canines and make room for these felines.
