Angry cats are often the cutest. But I never ever saw a cat hissing until I was 29, despite being more or less raised with cats. And it was the most lovely cat I've ever had that did it (when I took her and visited my grandparents house where my former cat now lived).

I bought a 2 yr. Old cat from a shelter. A rescue cat. She hisses all the time,but I love her. I am pretty sure she was born outside in summer and never had human touch for at least a month.That is what happens to kittens if they don’t have human touch for a month or so after birth. I accept her for who she is . She isn’t serious with her hiss. Just a habit. I hope she never loses her hiss. I love it.

I remember one time my friend's cat was trying to eat my foot like it was a chew toy. I didn't like how it felt. PTSD from the time I used to work in a cattery - I always used to absolutely LOVE cats (and still do in open spaces) but I had never heard a cat hiss before until I worked there for one summer. It caught me completely off-guard as I had never heard a cat hiss before irl. It seemed a lot more intimidating than expected it to be + it being in a very enclosed environment definitely freaked me big time - needless to say that incident (+ a few more unexpected ones) defiantly made me become more scared of cats. I still love them but I don't think I will ever have one now. From that day onwards I never went into any 'chalets' (as they were called in the cattery) with angry or unsettled cats in them. Some of the scratches other workers would get from some nervous or angry cats however further cemented my view!

My cat came from a feral cat family, they all were "hissers" except him. Ive never had a cat that didnt hiss, until Black Friday came into my life. He has never hissed once in the 8 years hes been with me, not even at stray cats that come along. But he yowls at them louder than any cat ive ever had to make up for the lack of hissing.
