I bought a 2 yr. Old cat from a shelter. A rescue cat. She hisses all the time,but I love her. I am pretty sure she was born outside in summer and never had human touch for at least a month.That is what happens to kittens if they don’t have human touch for a month or so after birth. I accept her for who she is . She isn’t serious with her hiss. Just a habit. I hope she never loses her hiss. I love it.

PTSD from the time I used to work in a cattery - I always used to absolutely LOVE cats (and still do in open spaces) but I had never heard a cat hiss before until I worked there for one summer. It caught me completely off-guard as I had never heard a cat hiss before irl. It seemed a lot more intimidating than expected it to be + it being in a very enclosed environment definitely freaked me big time - needless to say that incident (+ a few more unexpected ones) defiantly made me become more scared of cats. I still love them but I don't think I will ever have one now. From that day onwards I never went into any 'chalets' (as they were called in the cattery) with angry or unsettled cats in them. Some of the scratches other workers would get from some nervous or angry cats however further cemented my view!

My cat hisses when she happy and excited she's a weird cat she tends to act more like a wild cat than a housecat and uses hissing as a form of communication I can tell when she's hissing because she angry or scared though she will literally walk up to you hiss at you twice than start rubbing against while purring and hissing at the same time people are usually scared by this but she means no harm when she does that and I explain she just does that when she's excited and she was excited to meet a new person. Though when I worked at a cat shelter we had an extremely aggressive cat which was ironic because he was the most cuddly looking cat but the reason why he was aggressive was because he had some significant medical problems which caused him alot of pain all the time plus he was quite old and cats get grumpy when they are old and in pain yeah he definitely needed the most care out of all the other cats we had since he was a senior cat but thankfully someone adopted him and they knew how to give him the care he needs.
