Welcome to the series! And yeah, you need to break off that souls game muscle memory, both series are hard but Monster Hunter is a different type of difficult if we're talking about raw mechanics. It took me 5 minutes to get the hang of Elden Ring, while it took me 5-10 hours just to be COMFORTABLE with a weapon in Monster Hunter.

Nah the muscles memory from souls games made me a better hunter overall
@KenMochii2 ай бұрын
@@Darklurkerr It helps with just getting by in my opinion, but personally, I had to unlearn how a Souls game play just to get optimized times on hunts, hitting sub 10s and 12s on late game Iceborne monsters by just doing that. Ironically playing Elden Ring after Monster Hunter, made Elden ring even easier for me.

The reason why there is no lock on because the monsters arent meant to be fought from 1 single direction The combat is made with constant blindspots in mind, to capitalize on every opening the monsters gives, because you're able to wound them in various places for bigger damage Its easier to target these various body parts if your character is able to free roam around the monster Edit: there should almost never be a reason to dismount from a mounted monster, the purpose of it is to deal damage to it until it tires out, so that you can deal a finisher to knock them over, this knockdown allows for another chance to deal more combos
@phoenixtalon1002 ай бұрын
This is actually incorrect. This game has more souls-like lock on than any other game. was actually kinda surprised with how smooth it felt, especially compared to the awful one in world. You just have to lock the mosnter with left stick then press LB
@jerq8872 ай бұрын
@phoenixtalon100 souls games force your character to face the locked on target, MH doesnt do that, making it far less useful and far more confusing, because the camera follows the target, but the player doesnt, so its far less useful in MH compared to souls games, also given the fact that where you hit souls bosses rarely matters at all
@phoenixtalon1002 ай бұрын
@@jerq887 valid response, honestly. i don't use it myself but it still could be helpful for keeping track of a fast moving monster and since forward is always forward, it's not exactly hard to get yourself facing the monster again
@necromancer23672 ай бұрын
@@jerq887 it makes sense if you consider the fact that sometimes you have to fight multiple monsters. Having your character forced to look at one makes no sense in that case.

About tutorial: There are always "basic" missions at the beginning of the game, something like several missions around 10-20 hours minimum. "LOW RANK", this is the real tutorial, then the game always starts after that, with "HIGH RANK". Then after a lot of play in "HR" there is the "MASTER RANK"(the real thing for fans). In MH World the base game did not have "MR", MASTER RANK came with DLC Iceborne. So, there are practically many hours that we will all be learning how to play the game, that's why Multiplayer is so cool, always someone knows something and you know something different and there is an exchange of learning. MH is always a huge game.

The best things about the franchise for me are: 1-Armor designs! best by FAR! 2-Multiplayer 3-The addiction and challenge of always killing a stronger monster!
@Twisted_Feet2 ай бұрын
If you ever play the full version, just one tip I can give you. Watch a tutorial about changing some settings, they will greatly improve your experience. Auto-sheathing for example and on the Radial Menu, pressing the analog stick is way better than releasing it after hovering over the items. Also, for Target locking, there's a setting there that you makes the camera always follow the monster or locking it and when you press LB, the camera refocuses on them.

locking on is sort of a souls like thing, you're better off thinking about this game like a shooter or something. the camera lock function is just for tracking so you can quickly shift direction of camera to look at monster in case you lose sight of it. monster hunter is worth letting go of preconceived notions of how games are and just immersing yourself in a new experience imo :)

I hate it when streamers play other combat games and play it like it's elden ring, then complains about how it's not playing like elden ring. This streamer is unbearable.

If i recall, the lock on camera was the default in World, but I hated it. It’s especially bad in Monster Hunter since you need awareness of your surroundings
@LongestYardstick2 ай бұрын
@@angelomendoza6666 it wasn't, it doesn't play into their concept of targeting specific parts of monsters -- soulslikes and other combat games that have lock-on don't have that feature so it makes more sense there

hope you see this, hit LB when locked on and camera will track. doesn't work this well in World, and other games just don't have camera tracking, but it is there in this.. You can also, by the way, change the buttons it displays from XBOX to PS5 buttons.

It is not necessary to always kill monsters, in fact it is possible to just capture them(99% of the time), this way you can get more loot and more research results about the specific species. There are people who only kill when it is strictly necessary (some monsters cannot be captured). You can play more like a scientific researcher then, without killing them, it is an interesting roleplay.

When playing MH World, watch videos of people who are "main" in the weapon of your choice. It's almost impossible to know everything about every weapon in the game, you'll want weighted data that focuses on a single weapon. And of course, check out general tips about the game. You deserve to run MH World!

The first monsters are simpler, but the deeper you go into the game, the more monstrous-looking monsters appear. Just research for images of creepiest nd scariest monsters in the franchise, some are nightmares. 4 me: Vaal Hazak, Khezu, Gigginox and Deviljho are the most creep D:
