In the behind the scenes, Misto's actor describes him as not being a kitten, but also not being an adult yet. I love seeing the juxtaposition, where at times he'll act very grown up and sophisticated, and yet other times will devolve entirely back into a kitten nature- Bustopher Jones ia a really good example of both sides to this. The actor does such a tremendous job portraying this in a entirely visual nature

One thing that I love about Cats is that while each cat sings about themselves and how they're a valuable member of society to be chosen for the Jellicle Choice, Munkustrap never sings about himself nor considers himself for it at all. It's like that scene in Pirates of the Caribbean where the Pirate Lords all vote for themselves, but Jack votes for Elizabeth. Munkustrap's song is dedicated to Jennyanydots, not him

AGREED. I will also never forgive how they VIOLATED poor Bustopher Jones in the other movie. They COMPLETELY misinterpreted his character. Bustopher Jones is dignified.....he's proper.....he's the charming gentleman.....he's HIGHLY respected by the other cats.....he has the monocle and the spats and the rose and he walks with an air of charm and refined manners with his smile and his silver spoon. He eats well because that's what he desires as a proper gentleman (and it also shows that he is clever and resourceful to have multiple sources of food, while living on the streets). THIS Bustopher Jones would not be caught dead swimming through trash and glutting himself.....or HISSING at another cat. lol. And he's PROUD of his size....he's not ashamed of it. And Tugger as well. I don't think the new guy EVEN BOTHERED to watch John Partridge's performance when preparing for the role.....or he would have seen that Tugger is a feline sex god who ENJOYS flirting and flexing his body at the pretty lady cats. lol I WILL say, Ian McKellan did a very nice job as Gus. That was a sincerely heartfelt performance and I felt it equalled the Gus in this movie. I also liked Jennifer Hudson's Memory. Not as good as Elaine, of course....but she, at least, put emotion into her performance.

On stage, the actress removing her coat/fatsuit to reveal a dancing dress underneath is a way of showing the difference between her home life and her cat life. That's a cool idea. I really like how the relationships between the cats isn't spelled out for you so you can kind of imagine your own. I always thought Monkastrap was one of Old Deuteronomy oldest children because he's often seen next to the old man helping him and talking to him in the background. They're also colored very similarly. Also I like to think Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks are brother and sister because of the sweet way they wave to each other during her song. Even if that's not intended to be interpreted that way, it's a lot of fun to.

Me and my daughter know this musical from start to finish..every song..every dance. Every character..so when cats came to Dallas in November..we went twice..and of course these are all different actors..they were good..but no one can ever take the place of the original on DVD..vhs..we were oh my god they didnt do this step ..or on my they didnt do this or that. But we had a great time..

He got embarrassed after Mugojerrie and Rumpleteaser started making fun. Then they’re just joking about Munkustrap’s movements. The only time they’re mocking Jenny is during the cockroach tattoo bit. You can see Mungojerrie pretending to come after her with a fork at one point.

Hilariously, the fact the other cats donned costumes and learned the dance routine here shows they can do it if they *wanted* to. Then comes the Pekes and the Pollical number and they intentionally(?) screw it up at any possible chance. I think it goes to show that they have a lot of love and admiration for Jennyanydots like the motherly / grandmotherly figure that she is. Never seen the musical in full, or in person. Recently got interested in CATS thanks to Sideways' video. And while I can't choose a favorite song, I have to say that Jennyanydots might be my favorite character. Mainly because of how motherly she is, how she's an incredible tap-dancer, and how she's just...inspiring. Seriously, her character is giving me inspiration to continue writing. And I'm glad for that. Also, besides the tap-dancing routine being incredible, two moments really stick out to me in this. The first is how Rumpleteazer(I hope I spelt her name right), is mocking Jennyanydots at 1:01. Is just tingles with humor. And the other is when Jennyanydots sings "With a purpose in life, and a good deed to do". I could just say her singing is catchy, but catchy isn't the right word to describe it. So I'll just settle for very enjoyable.

My first musical I saw was Cats when I was 7, and I saw it in London's West End! TRUELY MAGICAL! The next day unknown to me, I got to go on a behind the scenes tour with my vacation kids' group and since I saw it the previous day (and MANY MANY times on DVD) the tour guide let me RIDE ON THE TIRE!! Ever since then I've been ADDICTED to Broadway & Musical Theatre!

It’s just that there’s a long dance segment in the middle that has a part where it seems like the mating section of the Ball, and some of the cats cuddle up to each other in a way that feels kinda seхual, but in a temporary, no-strings-attached way. They’re cats, so obviously they don’t have the same social conventions around seх. If Tugger and Jenny were one of those pairs, I doubt it meant they necessarily struck up a dating relationship. After all, it’s not like the cats even have strict pairings during that part, some who were feeling up one cat would go to another afterwards. And the only cats who really seemed to actually possibly be implied to have interсourse, instead of just temporarily touching and rubbing, were Victoria and Plato, who have an extended dance before exiting offstage.
