Another great crafter tip for the garage folks out here...as usual. We have tried several types of printer transfer in the past, i can remember Thunder Wear for my Apple Imagewriter back in the day. I agree that hot peel is easier to use. But crafters out there remember be careful the key word is hot. ;)

@ikah khalid, not sure. Inkjet heat transfers will lose some ink and fade on the first wash. That is normal.

Nice video. As for positioning the print on the shirt, I lay it flat on a table position the transfer then fold over all sides position on the heat press and un-fold leaving the transfer in the original position. This makes sure you keep consistency through all shirt sizes!

I've been using similar transfers with a press and after a few washes mine still don't last. They last on the light clothing, but not on my fabric appliques. Is there a certain kind of fabric you could recommend?

@ihavemyid No, these inkjet heat transfers are made for 100% cotton or maybe 50/50 poly cotton blends. I have no suggestions for transfer papers in commercial usages. @YogurtSlinger67 It’s actually an Epson Stylus Photo 1400. That is the model number. It’s a 13x19 sheet fed inkjet printer. No, inkjet printers do not print white ink. The name and number transfers are vinyl cut on a plotter. You can’t do that with an inkjet printer. You will only be able to print digital inkjet heat transfer papers with an inkjet printer. Teflon sheets and craft papers can be used over and over many times. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

Any advice for if the image you want to transfer is larger than your paper? could i just tile the printing to make multiple pieces and use masking tape to hold the pieces together while i iron it? or do u think it would look obvious that its multiple pieces?

26magicman26 Probably, yes. It would be difficult to line up the artwork so there are no gaps or overlaps and have it meet perfectly. @skdofficial That’s a difficult question to answer because of the budget. Screen printing is the best and most versatile. Heat transfers will allow you to start on a very low budget but the process limits what you can do depending on what transfer paper you use. You can get 3G soft jet paper no cutting or weeding it leaves a very light polymer film that washes out on the first wash.

Yes, there are a lot of "self weeding" or "washout" type digital heat transfers these days for laser and inkjet printers. There are even some "soft" inkjet types. This was done with some Avery transfer paper which you can easily get locally at Walmart or an office supply store. Thanks for watching. I don’t know about that video and I apologize but I don’t have time to search and watch it either. I have a lot of comments to answer ;) I would store plastisol transfers in a cool, dry place and perhaps in the dark. They will only last about 1 year due to the plasticizer coming out of the ink base. Plastic backing may improve that some but in the end plastisol ink will separate over time. I am thinking of getting my design printed on a black tank top that I got it from store, the material is modal linen.. pretty thin and I love it. However, this tank top comes with a little pocket at the front on the left, and my design would be on the centre. Is it still possible using the heat transfer method with the pocket, since the surface wouldnt be completely flat anymore? (I dont mind some prints to be printed on the little pocket since it cant be helped)

Yeah, I’m not sure. Transfers for dark garments tend to be heavy so I am unsure how it would transfer over the pocket. It would gap and not be perfect near the seams. Maybe extra pressure would fix that in a heat press. You may need to do a test on one to see what happens and if you like it. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

For digital heat transfers you would want image software like Photoshop. The printer would depend on what type of heat transfer you want to make.
