Cool! I don't know how I ran into this video, but it was interesting. My friend wants to get into this and I wanted to see how it was done. You are definitely right. You do not need a large machine. I like more steps, so I'd rather save money and buy the hat press instead of the larger shirt press - if I was doing just a small logo. I like putting more work into something, so I'd actually prefer the more difficult approach (hat press) .

Yes, A hat press can be used for smaller transfers or vinyl's for either sleeves or breast logo's. Thanks for watching

This video really helped me out. The heat press I bought was a generic brand from a reputable site, and I wasn't sure of the quality. I got a decent IR thermometer from Amazon, and checked it out. It actually runs 10-15 degrees hotter than the display says, but more than that, it's displaying in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius as the unit implies! I'm glad I verified before I started printing things, this video and that thermometer probably saved me a ton of money in lost transfers and shirts!

Thanks for the video. I have purchased an ebay press for about $200 US dollars. (i'm in usa) I purchased it strictly for my Airbrushing shirts to heat set the shirts. I heat set them 3-4 times, going around the shirt board. It works GREAT for that..... not so much for transfers. I ordered a small batch and used my press and I have YET to have a successful peel out of 8 so far. DO NOT SKIMP On a press if you're doing transfers!!
@reviewthat
@reviewthat 10 жыл бұрын
That's correct. A cheap press is no good for transfers but it is ok for curing inks. good comment.

Hi Martin,i have a question,i recently bought a heat press to get me started,(from a branded shop) and have done a few tester heatups so i can see how it does with even heat..i set it at 175 and once it reached temp, (according to the digital clock) i tested with the gun ,the centre read 197 and most edges read 206.......,now this was heating up with it open , to me this seems a huge differ ...so would this be classed as not calibrated properly and should be replaced?.........thank you ..ps thank you so much to you both for doing these videos....i am inspired greatly...Rara

HI Mike, We don't use sublimation ink on Transfers, we use dye based ink and when the pics have been printed, we contour cut the transfers to the outline of the image so there is no residue. Hello Martin, hope you & your wife are all well and good. I have recently purchased an Epson 1500W like yours, I'm just wondering when printing your images do you use the RGB or CMYK colour profiles?

just bought my heat press. Need to know what's the best transfer paper and where to get it from. I do like the vinyl prints, look like they would last longer on shirts. What machine did you use. So much I don't know. Can you also suggest a tee shirt wholesaler. Tks Martin!

Hello again Martin, I cant find Ricoh 3110DN here in my country unfortunately. I saw someone using Epson L310 for mug sublimation business. Would you recommend that? Thank you.

Hi Martin. I am doing jackets for a customer and for a long time everything was good. They switched brands that use a plastic zipper and I ended up damaging some of them while pressing chest logos. Do you do jacket chest logos and if so do you use your hat press? Thanks
@reviewthat

Yes you could do. A hat press is handy for pressing breast logo's. Cheers Martin

Hi Martin Thank you for sharing your great videos with us. I am going to buy your training video this week. In the mean time I hope you can answer these questions. I am about to buy a Heat Press. It will either be the Stahl auto Clam Hotronix 40x40, or the Adkins beta maxi 16 x20. The Adkins model is suitable for all pressures from light to Heavy, but I cannot find information if the Stahl is suitable for all pressures up to Heavy. Also do you find the 40x40 size platen covers you for most T shirts designs you use? Best Wishes Kath

HI Kath, The Stahl is the same one I have so that's the one for me. It does all you'll need for pressure on all garments. the 40cmx40cm is what we have. Good luck Martin

Hi, Thank you for your nice video. I just bought the same press like yours in the video. I want to do sublimation on metal plates, zippo lighters and other metal pendants. Can you recommend me the right paper and the right ink for that purpose. Also i wonder betwin two printers: Epson Artisan 1430 vs Ricoh Aficio SG 3110DN. What do you think? Can you recommend me a different model or these ones are fine? Many questions, i hope you have the time to answer them all :-) Best Regards from Gran Canaria

Martin - what type of paper are you using? The last time I bought transfer paper at an office depot I saw a residue stain the shape of the cutout. It looks like the paper you are using only transfer the ink without leaving a stain.
