And RIP to Peggy Clinger, who sang the female vocals in the Cattanooga Cats songs.

This is one of my favorites - a melancholy yet up-tempo tune about the loss of innocence and the end of childhood (and a late 1960's allegory as well), accompanied by flashy, psychedelic art. (Stylistically similar to another Cattanooga Cats tune, "Love Won't Stay Away".) Blatant Plug: For more info, check out the Cattanooga_Cats group on Yahoo.

Not regularly, but they still show up every now and then on Boomerang. The last time they were shown was October 2006.

Lyrics, for those wondering: Children on the playground, watching merry-go-round Grabbing for the brass ring, laughing at the plaything Merry-g-round, merry-go-round, merry-go-round How can you tell a carousel the world cannot stay happy Better go 'round, let her go 'round, merry-go-round Children, how you do sound, yelling "merry-go-round" Soon enough you'll grow up, moments start to show up Merry-go-round, merry-go-round, merry-go-round How can you tell a carousel the blue skies may turn cloudy? Better go 'round, let her go 'round, merry-go-round Children go downtown and forget merry-go-round Soon enough will come December, and then you shall remember Better go 'round, let her go 'round, merry-go-round Took years to find these online!

Jonas Clark Jonas, I’m old, but, this was my favorite song on the album. I only wish all the songs were on it. It was put out on Forward Records, I sure wish I could get a CD, or playlist. Thank you for putting out the lyrics! Linda

TimKangaroo put it right: a song about the loss of childhood innicence, I think. But fun and bouncy. My favorite of the Cattanooga Cats songs. Much better than Banana Splits, better all-around, music included - well-produced bubbegum pop, with a few country influences.

The only bubblegum song I can think of at the moment with grimmer lyrics than this is "Mister Factory" by The Archies.

+cjpmmd Mister Factory is very cringeful even for a song by The Archies

+aachelabelaaron There's a difference The songs like those from The Cattanooga Cats are timeless (even this song) songs like "Mister Factory" are sadly dated in terms of the issues of it's time It doesn't help that Archie's Funhouse replayed the song a few times making the song unbearable when watching the show in a binge

I like the song is has a very hypnotic melody the works I Describe it is that is had a very flashy colors vibe to it, I think that's why people got hooked, is because of the way it looked an to be honest it looked like a lsd trip, Tell me in the comments what you liked about show.
