When I first heard this song, I was actually fairly transphobic, sadly. I would laugh at jokes of "identifying as a woman" and stuff like that. Now that I have a much better understanding of gender dysphoria, I'm a strong ally who believes that anything short of full acceptance of trans and non binary people should be punishable by serious jail time. for the pro or anti trans discussion. this song is probably neither but pointing at all the aspects in between and that everything is a question of perspective. especially since the both characters can be seen as either the protagonist and or antagonist and vice versa. same in the videoclip. at the end the song is questioning who decides who we are as individuals and under what circumstances. live and let live. and that‘s the beauty of the lyrics for me. also: there is gore.
