Thank you so much for this video. I got a cat seedling a few months back and at first was treating it like a full grown cat and letting it dry out. Luckily I noticed it didn't seem to like that so I watered it more frequently because I didn't want the new green root tips to dry out. At first I justified the extra watering with my low humidity conditions, but I'm glad to hear that yes, seedlings need more frequent waterings. Hopefully I can bring the little guy back!

to give them the temperature differential, can you bring them outside during the day and then bring them in at night? i thought i had previously read that you shouldn't be changing the orchids environment constantly...but the humidity levels outside and inside would be somewhat similar, maybe 85% right now outside and 65-75% inside great video, thanks for the help!

@Hilda Rivera most likely it is root rot. Reduce watering, and make sure they are getting a drying out period.

Hello! Thanks so much for your videos; I've only watched a few, and they've already taught me a lot! I have a Cattleya which I bought at a discounted price because it was not blooming. I have been nursing it back to health, and it has produced a new pseudobulb with 2 new leaves. Everything seemed to be quite healthy, but for some reason in one of the leaves a very small hole formed. I think it may be because of too much sun expsoure. Is that possible? The color is nice and lime-green, but there are a few very small "freckles" on the leaves. I've tried to modify the plant's sun exposure, but I don't want it to receive too little light. Do you think the health of the plant is in jeopardy, or will it continue to grow and (hopefully) flower regardless of the small hole? I realize that's hard to discern without seeing the plant, but as I've never bloomed a cattleya, I just thought I'd see if you had any pointers. Thanks again for any advice!! Hi Luke, grest video! i however, have a question about one of my phals....i just saw yesterday it had two limpy leaves that are very concerning. What might be the cause of that? It seems to be growing well all along, new roots, leaves and two beautiful bloom spikes....help! thanks Sheena

Why are the roots to my cattleya brown and one lost all it's leaves and turned brown? What should I do they are seedlings?
