Good video, but for anyone thinking about doing this, just understand that this won't make a difference in security. Standard pin tumbler locks are not designed for high security and security pins are just a poor patch job. Once you have successfully manipulated a few of them, you can open them all regardless of security pins. So if you aren't going out of your way to get and arrange security pins, go for it. But if all you have are standard pins and need to rekey a lock, you aren't missing anything. The person robbing you is usually not manipulating your locks and the ones that are will not be slowed down by the type of pins you're using. If you want better security in a lock, two things count the most: size and complexity. The more material they need to cut through and the more moving parts it takes for manipulation, the better. If it's just a padlock guarding a fence that doesn't face the outside, anything will work just fine. If it's a lock for your front door, a good deadbolt will cost a couple hundred, but don't forget to combine it with a good door, security hinges, strong frame, secure windows, and a security plate covering the gap between the door and frame. Security is expensive and going nuts on a lock won't help much if the other parts of the perimeter are cheap, flimsy, missing, or defective. Layers are better than a tough lock. Awareness, cameras, lights, alarms, gates, dogs, and weapons are the begginings of security. If you're just guarding your work clothes in a gym locker, your padlock choice doesn't matter.

Actually, it does make a difference in security. Not all lock pickers are equal and adding difficulty does increase security against a percentage of lock pickers. Also you can do and buy all those expensive things for your house to add difficulty but there are people that have the tools and skills to breeze through all of it. It won’t be a lock picker but if you think it’s a waste of effort because someone with the tools and practice can easily defeat your attempt at security, I just want to let you know you wasted all the money on the $200 deadbolt and all the other stuff.

Is that a socket extension that you are using as a follower?

No, it’s just a deep wall socket. Any cylindrical object of close enough diameter can be a poor man’s plug follower.

You can also rekey without removing clip or using follower

Yes, but you can’t change the top pins or springs without removing the plug.

I never liked locks with keys that didn't look like they have enough variation in them. Always felt like it was a weak keying.

Oh also i would use surrated for low to no travel while using spool for deep. Serrates work better in 1100 for oversetting pins, where spools like that deep travel to actually be engaging🤷🏼. If that makes sense. Still great video. Sorry for multiple posting on same video. Just alot covered here🤣🫣🤷🏼😝
