Over the years, no matter what type of tabs you use; they will always cause a tear because the paper quality is thin. All you need to do if you use tabs is reinforce them with tape. 😊 There’s no right or wrong way to use them. ❤
@catwoods54992 ай бұрын
Correct there's no right or wrong way. But there are 100% the incorrect tools that can be used. Not all supplies work for all Bibles journals or planners. And any one who work in this active in this kind of world totally understand that. And this is why it's so important to help those who are just getting into the craft world. Just because you found something to work for one Bible in this case it doesn't mean it's going to work in all Bibles. As you mentioned here using reinforce tape is a great suggestion and idea yesssss. But it can also add more weight to the tab which will not help the situation at all just cost more problems. So this is very important to research and really consider all the pros & cons for whatever we do in our Bibles. Rather we can deal with whatever problems that may pop up and say "hey that's not top bad 😏 so I'm totally OK with the way it looks" or will the problem be so bad that you find yourself cringing ever time you use that Bible and you don't want to use it any more? If so these are the things we have to make sure not to continue to do in our Bibles. Because this will ultimately end up to being another reason NOT TO USE OR READ YOUR BIBLE. This video was really geared towards premium Bibles again because of the price of them they're not as afford as a standard Bible when you mess up you can just purchased another one and get in the next day.

Hi, I feel like I have to share with you about my experience with the glue runner you are using. I used to use that all the time in my scrapbooking & paper crafting. After a couple of years, everything was falling off. I had to restick everything. I have been using the Advance Tape Runner for years now and nothing is falling apart. It is really awful to open up a book & all your work is coming apart. I just wanted to share this with you. I hope you won't think I'm trying to be mean spirited or anything. It is just my experience but I know others that have had the same thing happen in my crafting group I am a part of. I also want to say, your Bible is beautiful!!! You do a lovely job! I am actually Bible Journaling as I'm watching your video. Have a blessed day.

It could be the humidity or something like that in the air where you live or the type of heaters you have in your house. I've heard this from another person when she moved to a different state they didn't have high humidity, but a drier air she didn't have that problem 🤔 idk something for everyone to think about. I would never say something will work for everyone just for that one simple fact alone. But also we all have our own personal preferences on what we like to use. I am only sharing my experiences and in this particular video the BAD that no one talks about

Great video Cat! I’ve definitely experienced some of the problems like the tabs from way back when you were doing them - for me, the glue from some of the tabs started to leave marks on some bibles, like a leaking oily mark. And another one - ballpoint pens/biro type pens! They caused an oily feathering of the ink, or faded and esp the purple color, it looks terrible now! Fading of some highlighters is another one.
@catwoods54992 ай бұрын
I'm lucky I had no pen or highlighters problems the pens I use are still looking just as beautiful as the day I added. But I have noticed the yellow highlighter sometimes faded I wish I knew which one it was so I didn't use now but that's an easy fix 😉 thank you for sharing your problems too. I love using tabs on my Bibles. I won't use the thicker ones though, even though they are usually quite pretty. I use the old standard tabs that have been around for years and years. However, my oldest Bible, purchased in 1989, has a lot of scotch tape on several of the pages where the paper has started to tear from the excessive use of the tabs. I don't know if there was such a thing as washi tape back then, but this Bible doesn't have enough margin space to use washi on, so I found that the clear tape worked best on those pages. It's far from being a premium Bible. The cowhide cover is torn and shredded and parts of the spine have come off. But it's my baby! It's my comfy Bible! I can't use it right now because I need cataract surgery, which has been postponed twice. :( I don't have anyone to leave it to so I know it will wind up in a trash heap somewhere, but as long as I am alive, this Bible will always be within my reach.

I love the E6000 glue for some of my crafts. I agree it will not be good in a Bible though! I have always used regular Elmer's glue to hold an old Bible together. It is still holding with no bad effects. I agree, pink stickers, highlighters always bleed through eventually. Same with pink ink pen! I find I am not putting as much into my Bibles as I used to, as less is more? Love you, Cat, 💖💗💓 I hope to continue to learn Bible study, which getting closer to God's Word is like getting closer to God. ☦

Your Bibles are absolutely beautiful and minimizes any damage; however, being a super, excited (soon-to-start) beginner to Bible journaling and crafting, I am now confused & a little discouraged about a safe way to insert tip ins and if I should avoid Bible tabs, post-it notes & stickers altogether. 🤔😢

The only thing I use in my Bibles are the book tabs and highlighters.I do use colored pens to underline things,too.The Bibles I use most are in covers to protect the actual covers on them,so if I stack the Bibles,they won't get stuck together and peel.

Good video. Loved seeing your older bibles again. I have been journaling since 2017 and have experienced much of the same things in my older bibles as you, and, like you, I don't regret those experiences. I guess I love those bibles as one might love a wrinkled grandma. :) When it comes to Gorilla glue, I have been using it in my Jesus bible for a year or two. I put a thin strip alongside the edge of the page and then insert into the seam between two pages. So far, no problems with sticking to other pages or excess seeping glue. I only do this to add extra thin pages for writing notes on, not for art or adhering stuff to actual pages. A tiny bit of that glue goes a very long way, but for adding a thin page for journaling, it has so far worked well for me. Love your videos. CAVEAT: I always hold my glued edge pages up straight up for 30 seconds before closing my bible, allowing the glue to thoroughly dry. Also, I use a small, plastic rule to press the page into the seam and separate from pages closest to it. (Don't know if that makes sense, but it so far has worked for me.)

Hey Cat - from someone who is fairly new to all this I truly appreciate your words to the wise. I was wondering if you would ever consider a series of decorating videos that cover a whole bible from Genesis to Revelation. I'm sure many of us have pretty stickers and washi and it would be fun to decorate along with you and have a beautifully done bible at the end. I just bought an NASB pocket 6" x 4" that I want to try and transform. Just a thought. 🌸

Yup… all true… I do all my art in a thicker paged Journaling Bible and use another for pen and markers, which is a thicker paper. I often question the highlighters … when I am through the end of chronological study, I ask myself, will all this color-coding actually hold up? Well, God has a fix for everything because I have re-studied a chapter/Book/verse and gain more and different understandings of what I highlighted before lol Hard to explain it all here lol❤

Due to my struggles,I am at a lost as to what should I do versas what would be good. I have old and new stickers plus tabs I got off Amazon thru Mr. Pen. I like yhe idea of top tab but wouldn't that also be a way for paper yo rip? I have 2 bibles I'd like to at least use the tab sections but need more advice on it. Thanks

Any glue used on paper that you want to last should be archival glue. White glue (PVA glue) is what book binders glue any book together with. I only use liquid glue in my Bibles and journals. Liquid glue dries. Glue runners, double sided tape, never dries.

The glue is still spreading and moving around due to the climate changes. Meaning: if you have your Bible with you outside and it’s 90 degrees, the glue melts (even though it wasn’t a true liquid, but came/made from a liquid base). it will still melt and move into grooves, indents, tears or what have you. And even sometimes out the sides of the item that was glued down. That’s why if you live in a hotter climate it could be better to use double sided tape so it doesn’t melt and the glue attach to a page touching it. The glue wouldn’t melt or move in colder climate because it kinda “freezes itself into place”. The glue wouldn’t return to a liquid form and move around.

$300 for a BIBLE?!?! 😮🤯 I have NEVER seen a Bible for $300! Not even Extra Large Family Bible’s wrapped in quality leather need to cost that much money. That’s absurd! I don’t understand your definition of a “premium” Bible. Sure, Bibles can range in price. But, unless you are purchasing a Bible wrapped in silver or gold, there’s no reason for one to cost that much. 🤦🏻♀️ I will say, your Bibles are fun to look at! 😍 Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏼

$300 is nothing how much is your phone🤣😂 I don't understand how people will spend thousands on phone cars & houses clothing and jewelry handbags etc. But when it comes to God sacred word.... ohhhh no no no way I will neve dare spend a lot of money on that. I bet it's because they don't use it so they can't justify it in their heads. It's really heartbreaking 💔 😢 and than there are others who absolute loves reading God's Word and spend a lot of money on it well we know the whole overall reading experience is different. You can't understand what I mean until you hold in your hands. I can talk and explain until I'm blue in the face to won't understand I can share my own personal Bible collection and you still won't understand. It all depends on the person.
