Tryon Park has a spot where people stealth camp. It is at the very far north east corner of the red trail. It overlooks the bay and has a fire pit. Always see people with their hammocks. The spot is so far off the road you can have a fire easily without being seen.
@abeirabaixa6 ай бұрын
You get heavy rain, identical to that of a tropical forest, and you don't give up. You camp somewhere where the ambulance sirens make as much noise as the frogs. You have a pedestrian bridge close by and tourist boats running around. You find an authentic archaeological site with several historical remains floating in the river near your tent. Meanwhile, you discovered that the lumberjacks who cut down the trees in the area play classical guitar. Congratulations! You have just been selected for the stealth camping Olympics to be held next year in the center of central center of Paris' center!!

Those aquatic plants that "kinda look like lilly pads" are Arrowhead/Arrow Arum aka "duck potato". I used to grow them in my water garden. All parts of it are edible and it has no toxic mimics in North America. It has some limited medicinal uses (the leaves and root skins can be used as an anti-inflammatory poultice to stop bleeding and reduce swelling), but its roots are prized as a top-notch wild starchy edible.

The long list of birds that relish poison ivy includes bobwhite quail, brown thrashers, northern mockingbirds, red-headed, downy, hairy, pileated and red-bellied woodpeckers, yellow-bellied sapsuckers, northern flickers, yellow-rumped warblers, Carolina chickadees, blue grosbeaks, eastern bluebirds and gray catbirds....goats too. Google said so

I have a small woodlot of about 15 acres within 100 feet of where I live. There are also 3 large ponds that have gators 🐊 so I am concerned that they would try to get me in my sleep if i camped there. I still haven't given up on the idea. This part of Florida has lots of snakes too including the foot long nearly-invisible pygmy rattlesnake. They are just as lethal as the big ones. 🐍 and without a Thermocell the mosquitoes 🦟 and Noseeums would drain me of all my blood by morning. Noseeums, in case you don't know, are a biting insect that is so tiny that you cannot see them yet somehow have 6 inch long razor-sharp fangs! Their initial bite is worse than getting an IV but the wound always supporates and oozes for about 2 weeks. They leave a permanent scar on the skin. You've been warned!
