This concert was from 1983, it absolutely banged. The whole band was on point, led by lead vocalist and guitar god Mark Knopfler. This blew me away just watching the video, I can't even imagine being in the audience.

I was there back in '83 and there were no girls in the band, its Hal Lindes! This was filmed at Hammersmith Odeon, London, in July 1983' I went with a couple of guys from work, I was 18, it was amazing, but you don't realise how amazing until you see this video, because it was only the second gig I went to, the first being the Rolling Stones, so the bar was already high! This is still up there as the best gig

I can not split my Top 3:Dave G, Rory Gallagher, and Gary Moore, and if you see Gary LIVE at Montreux playing "Parisienne Walkways" or LIVE In Paris playing "I've Still Got The Blues For You" then you will see why but with so many others like Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix(not really one of mine but I see his greatness) and, of course, Mark, t's an ever-changing, elite few..

This song is about going into a pub in London to get out of the rain one night and the place was mostly empty but the band playing were call the Sultans of Swing.........they are making a little fun of them as they performed to a basically empty house but thought they were big time;;.............a bit of a mocking..........they are rpck stars............Swing music is from the Forties.

Mark Knopfler plays lead guitar so fast! I also recommend much later in his older years, his collaboration with the great Emmylou Harris 🎸 it's more mellow like folk/country

Always have to point out since it's something easily overlooked and quite frankly Mark Knopfler doesn't get the recognition he deserves as one of the greatest guitarists, but if you look closely, you'll notice the man is finger picking that guitar, which nobody does except for some acoustic players.
