Gorillaz is a virtual band, meaning they are always shown as animations even at live shows. The band consists of only 2 actual members: Damon Albarn, the former front man of brit-pop band Blur, who writes, composes, plays and sings everything for the studio versions (obviously except for features contributions) and Jamie Hewlett who does the animations. They get musicians to play with them for live shows but they all play behind a giant screen that's used for the animations. Most of their songs include a featured artist. The concept of the band was to be as big a middle finger to the music industry as they possibly could be. They can not be tied to any specific genre and aren't afraid to have an insane variety of features on the same album. The featured artist on this particular track was Del the Funky Homosapien (the big blue ghost).
