@@dubiousbookpublishing4410 It was around in the 90's, but it was nowhere near "mainstream" as it is now. I was in grade school and middle school in the 90's, and I distinctly remember the teachers stressing multiculturalism. Hell, in 4th grade (1994) I remember one teacher giving us a project where every kid in the class picked a country out of a hat and we had to come to class the next week dressed up in that country's traditional clothes and talk about it. I picked Spain. So that meant I had to go to the library, research Spain, get clothes (my grandma helped out with sewing) and I came in a bullfighting costume. I thought it was a really fun project. But just IMAGINE if that happened today....Twitter would spontaneously combust and TikTokers would have aneurysms screaming "cultural appropriation."

@@caomhan84 Oh absolutely. I had the same school thing in fifth grade, I represented Germany. It was only mainstream in the sense that MTV played it pretty much hourly when it hit. There really wasn't such a thing as mainstream in the late 80's, early 90's. We watched 120 minutes on MTV and bought car stereos with cassette decks because we didn't listen to the radio. Have you ever heard of Mudhoney? They're the reason Kurt Kobain tried out for Nirvana but slowly it all started getting radio play (at least in ATL) & captured a wider audience towards the late nineties. PJ Harvey was getting radio play in 95. Snoop's Gin & Juice got hourly play on the radio in 92-93. Megadeath around the same time. Music was just everything then. It was all good. What happened?

Snow is Canadian (as am I) and I remember when this song came out. It was a HUGE hit. He grew up in Toronto and those in his neighobourhood were all from the islands (specifically Jamaica) so it's in his blood. The song is about “Informer” basically as an insult against those who he claimed “snitched on” him, which led to him doing an eight-month bid in the maximum-security Toronto East Detention Center. Owing to this, the hook of the track is based on Snow physically threatening the “informer” who got him locked down.

Bless you sweetie. My momma had Lupus and my best friend has it. Just keep the faith, I know it's hard but we're gonna figure something out. I give to the Lupus Foundation for research every year. It's a cause close to my heart. My mom died in March 2020, not from Lupus, from other things, though I'm sure that didn't help. Big hugs to you

Lol, I love you. I love all of your reactions, and in this one specifically, I love your misinterpretations of the lyrics. Outside of "I'll lick your bum bum down" (a licky boom boom down), he doesn't say he'll ease the tension, lol; he says east detention. Also, he's not from Connecticut. In that line, he says he's from the ghetto, and later says he's from Toronto.
