It's something that's far more common today than I remember it being when I was in h. school in the 90s. It's really embarassing. At the time, though...white boys were very much not attempting to be black. Or I was out of the loop, probably!

He's a wannabe and the way the girl acts around him is something that just exists in his mind. Wannabe's were common back in the 90's and actually quite common today too. @@OZYM1 I wasn't aware of that. In Norway we just used to call them wannabe's. I was never one of the cool kids so there's probably a ton of slang I don't know about. Wanna be was the more general term. We used that also. I grew up in South Central Los Angeles and the other two terms were used more often. I’m sure every area had their own slang, like you said.

In fact 50 Cent even rapped about Ja Rule being a “Wangksta.” They had a dumb feud over a robbery and whether or not 50 hung out with the “alleged” thief after he stole a gold chain from Ja Rule.
@Abbadonhades
@Abbadonhades 3 жыл бұрын
@@OZYM1 There's a lot of dumb feuds out there. Maybe after they both got rich they also got bored. I mean there's a lot of stuff going on today that we actually should be mad about. For people in general there's no need to make up quarrels, because there's more important things to care about. Such as unemployment, disease, wars, racism and the destruction of the environment.

@@greenkorn69 It can be a problem with me because I couldn't just enjoy the song without having to consciously focus on the original because if I just let it go, it would literally be replaced in my head in real time with the parody lyrics. This song is a classic. Offspring has a lot of really good songs. Here's a few recommendations for your next smoke session: "Gone Away" "Kristy are you doing okay?" "Fix you" "why don't you get a job?" "The kids aren't alright" "Original prankster" "spare me the details" "you're gonna go far kid"

Another good song of theirs is "Why Don't You Get a Job?" Songs with comedy elements rarely make the radio, so the Offspring is a bit of a novelty.

If you realize this video is about acceptance. This guy feels like a Dangerous Gangster but he's not, but in 2020 you have to accept him for what he thinks he is. You know, I feel this song is the foundation of all the now young adults feeling whatever they want to be.

I think it makes more sense in context to the whole album "Americana"(Five times Platinum record), each song explores a part of American life in a satiric fashion or deadly serious, I'd recommend The Kids Aren't Alright, just don't get too distracted by the video

Sooo much more Offspring. They are a treasure trove. Self Esteem, Your Gonna Go Far Kid, Gone Away, Come out and Play...I could go on, but you picked one of their greatest for your intro. I'm going with a video game for where you probably heard this. It just seems like the kind of song that would be on GTA, lol.
