Don't mean to bring political ideas here, but consider how many blue pill podcasts claim "you deserve love" and stuff like that. Like you said, loyalty and trust are what shows someone that they mean more to you than infatuation, and that's what the victims of infidelity have been deprived of.
@plaguepug20919 ай бұрын
I’ve always been confused by this too. All “I didn’t love them” screams to me is “this is not a one-time thing and it 100% could happen again”.
@plaguepug20919 ай бұрын
@@Maninawig You brought politics here so I’m gonna bring in the philosophy train to counteract it. I understand your premise but my main question is, what gives you the right to decide that loyalty shows love? Furthermore, loyalty in what regard? There are plenty of ‘disloyal’ things that could be done that wouldn’t necessitate the end of a relationship, however sexual disloyalty is regarded very differently. Generally ‘open relationship’ people are very unhappy in these relationships, but that’s expected as open relationships have had a huge influx of new people trying it out because they want to chase a trend. I’d argue though, that the continued existence of swingers proves that there are certain people who view romantic love in a fundamentally different way. If you want something beyond infatuation, why do you care if they become infatuated with someone else? That shouldn’t affect what they have with you. The only answer is you have the right to care because it’s your life and you are able to choose relationship partners based off of subjective preference, and if this means someone who won’t fuck others, then so it will be. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong to me with most forms of relationships (one sided open shit is really weird and unhealthy imo), but to act as if ‘loving someone’ is a well-defined concept that we can list characteristics of. What it means to ‘love someone’ has always been societally influenced. When we were first evolving and chasing our food, people would just sleep around and try to pop out as many kids as possible because that was what fit the needs of society, more people (meaning a bigger team for hunting/gathering). Now that we are in a modern society we arrange into nuclear families, as this has been proven to best fit the needs of the society we live in. As society evolves, who’s to say our relationships won’t evolve with it? TLDR: ‘Loving someone’ isn’t a well-defined concept as it is purely subjective and we cannot assume everyone will give and receive love the same.
@Maninawig9 ай бұрын
@@plaguepug2091 I think we have a miscommunication here. The reason I brought up the blue pill concept of women (in particular) "deserving love," "happiness," etc, is to answer OP's question why cheaters claim "I didn't love them." Whenever I hear a blue pill podcast mention "deserving love," it is so.very rarely made to coax someone out of a toxic marriage (and never towards a man in a 10 year loveless one), but most often used to segregate the emotions from the actions with sayings like "you didn't love him so it doesn't count." As for the philosophy, I think the best description of love was from Steven R. Covey and Garry Chapman who expressed the state of being in love as the product of loving someone. The former explains that love is a verb, a series of actions that brings about the euphoria we call love (the noun). The latter adds that those actions must be aimed towards the partner's needs (something he coined as a love language) and identified 5 major ones. That said, it should also be noted that the recipient's duty is to manage their needs to a reasonable state. _For instance, if a woman has a need for quality time and a need for tokens of affection, they could find a much more fulfilling life by managing the expectations of those gifts price wise, so that the man can afford not taking so much overtime, or find patience when he does._ In that sense, loyalty is the act of relying on your partner to fulfill those needs, cravings, and respecting boundaries. It is a guarantee that they will fall short from time to time, but loyalty would instill the urge to fix it within the partnership (discuss and grow together) rather than seeking a top-up outside the partnership. Interestingly enough, polygamy falls short in the same way, given that cheating and distrust can be sewn when those boundaries are crossed and needs are met by outside sources. TL:DR loyalty is not love, but rather the trust that your partner will fulfill your emotional needs. Love, on the other hand, is the act of fulfilling those needs consistently.

Why the hell did AP's wife slapped him, who the hell slaps a man who's telling you that your husband is cheating on you with his wife? Furthermore why did the coworkers got the nerve to tell him that it's none of his business when that bastard AP ruined both of their marriages.
