I have a friend whose husband worked as a pilot for a life flight company. He told me that the medical professionals on board were given information about the trauma the patients they were going to treat had but he as the pilot was not allowed to know that information before or during the call. I asked him why and he said it was so the pilots could concentrate on the flight and not have the stress of knowing what was going on with the patients they were helping. He mentioned specifically how hard it would be for him if he knew he was dispatched to an event where a child or a pregnant woman was the patient. I always think about that when I see a life fight helicopter either flying or parked at a hospital. ☹️

The main problem with getting people together is that you will always have some knucklehead that thinks of something stupid to do because they have a large crowd of spectators and then he says, “hey man, watch this!!!” and the next thing you know you have 3 dead and multiple injuries. And for what??? 15 seconds of fame... at best. You may even end up dead yourself (which, for the dumbass, is actually the best outcome if you happen to hurt or kill others) or killing others around you and going to jail for the next 30 years. Not to mention the fact that you have to live with the memories that you killed someone due to your own stupid, selfish and thoughtless actions!!! Which to me would be the absolute worst part!!! Someone does something very dangerous and stupid at every car get together. It happens every. single. time.!!! It NEVER EVER fails!!! It may not always injure or kill anyone but I can guarantee you that something dangerous and stupid will occur and the driver just gets lucky... that time!!! Even if it is someone that isn't even associated with the get together. One safeguard is for you to drive a larger, heavier vehicle with more steel around you. All else being equal, the people in the vehicle with greater mass fare better than those in lighter vehicles. My vehicle was once hit in the rear bumper on a city street by someone driving a small car (like a Honda Civic). I was driving a large Toyota Sequoia SUV. Her car was completely totaled. Both front wheels were broken and lying flat on the ground but still attached to the car. The hood of her car was peeled back toward the windshield. The radiator was pushed back onto the top of the engine, and the front bumper of her car was destroyed. As for my SUV, I was able to drive it away from that wreck with no problem. The rear bumper had some large scratches and internally the bumper had some damage. The ball trailer hitch under the bumper only had paint scratches. I was unhurt in the incident. The young woman driving the car was really rattled but apparently not hurt bad because the airbags on her car worked as intended. Police discovered later that she was talking on her cell phone at the time of the collision.

5 days a week, I travel on the freeway to do a chore in the afternoon. How many times do i see drivers FLYING past me going way over the speed limit. They dont know that despite a tire's grip and traction, if the vehicle is speeding, the brakes, the tires lose traction and grip (thus the skid marks on the road) and its bye bye to the operator or a sad ending to an innocent commuter just minding their own business and driving safer.
@nottelling48283 жыл бұрын
@@lonelypigeon7562 It depends on the driver, the car, and the situation. Some dope doing 60 in a residential neighborhood is more dangerous in my eyes than a man hitting 120 on the highway in a camaro with good tires. It's the morons who can't handle their vehicles that cause all the problems, flying down the highway with traffic all around, weaving in and out like they're playing a video game. I had a dufus fly up on me just the other day like that. Looked like a new Ford Fusion or something, probably doing 100-105. I was in the fast lane doing a good speed myself, but when I saw this nut job flying up on me, I just had to shake my head. I punched it and pulled away from him (Camaro), but I realized that doing 110-120 probably wasn't in my best interest for the duration of the trip, so I figured I'd slow back down and let this moron pass. He of course decided to swing hard into the far left lane before I could get over, pass a few cars dangerously, then swing it back into the fast lane where he promptly had to hit the brakes because of...you know...traffic! Funny thing was that he had to cut off a few cars to make the same exit as me, and I was directly behind him. Coming off the exit, I darted into the passing lane ahead of him, but more traffic awaited us, so of course he flies up ahead in the slow lane and cuts the lead car off, almost clipping the car in the slow lane. All I saw were brake lights due to this moron. He eventually flew off somewhere into the great unknown, thankfully.

Tony, I agree! My husband is a retired racer. We love to go to various racetracks to see races (NHRA, NASCAR, etc.). They are safe venues with proper crowd control. However, these events do have terrible accidents, and rarely bystanders are injured (that's why I sit up fairly high in the bleachers). These young and dumb street racers have NO IDEA OF THE POWER AND PHYSICS INVOLVED when racing at high speeds. Additionally, the street spectators are just as clueless. It is absolutely tragic; particularly when it all could've been prevented. I get it: young people love beautiful fast cars (many of us, ahem, older people do too). That's why there are race tracks. The laws regarding street racing need to be far more strict/enhanced. These deaths are horrific & needless; street racing MUST STOP!

I'll be honest, I never street raced, but had a lot of opportunities and seen a lot of them. Compared to legal racing, this is all peanuts. Real racing is actually where it's at. Roads aren't designed for it, people aren't/shouldn't be expecting it, and frankly, that means even with a funny car, what are you going to prove? You can drive a car by theory anywhere and race anywhere. Congrats for having common sense. I’m 61 yrs old and from Edmonton Alberta Canada. Being a teen 15-18 here was a blessing for all parents. We had a Raceway right in the city where you could legally race on weekends. Speedway was where thousands of teens went to cheer on their favourite driver. You could probably finds old videos from back in the mid 70’s. Our parents always knew where we were and it kept us racers off the streets. The only reason it was relocated was due to the city expanding. You could hear the roar from our houses, (we only had to walk through a large field to get to it as we lived in Castle Downs on the opposite side of the field) and parents automatically knew where we were. An investment every large city should have. You can cut the costs down by implementing volunteer work. Schools and such can have parents volunteer a night in the ticket booths, burger stands etc. Driving clubs volunteer for working the pits and raceway with half the entry proceeds, concessions and booths go to the volunteer groups fundraising while the raceway still makes money with no overhead. I wish the youth had what we had growing up.
