Caught on camera: Suspect loads stolen gold shipment

Nine suspects wanted in connection with the gold heist at Pearson International Airport last year have now been identified by investigators, Peel Regional Police say.
At a news conference Wednesday on the one-year anniversary of the heist, police announced that two of the suspects were employed with Air Canada at the time of the heist.
Police said 19 charges have been laid and Canada-wide warrants have been issued for the arrest of three of the suspects who have not yet been apprehended.

It did have gold, you can web search for "Air Canada employees among suspects identified in gold heist at Pearson airport: police" to read the story about it. It was $2.5 million dollars worth. "Divide $2.5 million by the current spot price of about $1984/ozt to get about 1260 troy ounces. That converts to about 39.2 kg or 86.4 Ibs. Or, if you prefer to visualize it another way, about 3.2 of those trapezoidal "good delivery" or "settlement" bars sometimes depicted in heist movies."

So I'm supposed to believe that the so called thief got a day old invoice for fresh sea food order and used it to procure a pallet full of gold bars. A pallet that the forklift operator..... Then drops on the ramp and the guy inside takes it the rest of the way with a pallet jack. The entire pallet wobbles when it's set down and when the guy shakes it to ensure its secure 😂 If that forklift could lift that much gold which it can't the pallet jack inside definitely couldn't. A five-tonne lorry was then used to steal the gold, weighing roughly 400kg (881lb), police said. Months after the theft, Brink's International, a US-based security company due to coordinate the shipment of the goods, sued Air Canada. Brink's alleged that the airline had been "reckless" and had failed to prevent the theft, making no attempt to verify the identity of the person who "absconded with the cargo".

LMFAO, 6600 gold bars is worth more than 20 million usd. Even if the bars were 1 troy oz ingots they would be worth far more than a mere 20 million. If the "BARS" were industry standard (meaning the typical exchange medium) " BARS" each bar would be 400 troy oz apiece. Making each bar worth 800,000 USD each. Thus 6,600 of them would be Over 5 billion dollars USD at 2023 prices, in 2024 gold prices this would be FAR HIGHER. The media is DOWNPLAYING this trying to run cover for someone.

Everyone is complaining that the forklift and pallet jack couldn’t lift the ULD if it was completely full with gold, while that is likely true the ULD only contained $20,000,00CAD of gold. Right now that equates to only 180kg or ~396 pounds… Check yourself before you wreck yourself people.

Some politicians are getting paid out or why else do we allow so many stolen cars to leave the port of Ottawa? Right now there should be stringent procedures and protocols in place to authenticate the legal legitimacy of the cars leaving for shipment. It’s easy enough with license databasing etc.

That doesn’t have gold on it. You can tell by the way that it shakes back-and-forth when the forklift backs away. Also when the guy pushes on it, you can see it move back-and-forth if that was full of gold there would be no movement to it at all, because the weight would be so much it would be solid, not moving or jiggling in anyway.

Most things are not guarded or marked during shipment in Canada even firearms or ammunition. Someone inside of the company sold the information on this pallet. There's no way the criminals knew exactly what to get, where and were able to forge complete paperwork for it. Someone's sleeping with one eye open for the rest of their life after this. The investigations can take years but they'll figure it out by eliminating suspects one by one
