Glad you figured out who the culprits was. We had a Husky mix that wiped out our neighbor’s show chickens when she got lose. That was an expensive day. Hope y’all had a good hunt!

WOW!..y ou handled that situation with much grace. Hope you get the bear to feed your family. You live off the land as much as you can so far and I respect that. It appears to be a very rewarding way of life. Stay safe and warm

Hey, are you sure you weren't looking at the tentative dates posted earlier in the year when it said that? If you check the Hunt & Trap book, last day is Nov 2.

@MBFModernHomesteading they changed it after the book was printed. There is a memo from DNR on the NB Bear hunters FB group if you're on there. Was issued August 12th, 2024

So, the neighbors dog/s killed your chivken. I was expecting some other animals, but not a dog. You did the right thing by letting the neighbor know what happened. Probably in the future, you'll be able to put an electric fence....maybe??? My goodness, unbelievable. Now, let me tell momma Ashley, you look more beautiful than ever. I know, a few more hours sleep would be great too. 😅 what did you say, Jeremy? Okay, you look good too. 😊 I'm glad your Mom is staying with the kids while you and Ashley go out hunting. Lots of blessings and lots of love to you all!

One wonders if the neighbour is actually feeding those dogs, or if the dogs must hunt to eat. They are being left outside at night, not in a kennel or on a lead? They are more like pack animals than pets then. That would make me very uneasy. The wild animals are better behaved than the dogs. 😦☹

FERREL DOGS LOVE CHICKEN
@bay987611 сағат бұрын
Stoney ridge farmer lost all his chickens to a den of foxes. They didn't eat them but just killed them for killing sake. Once dogs taste chicken blood you pretty well have to put them down. Be darn sure they'll be back. Love the family pet but they still keep their basic instincts and precautions are needed. Hope you bag a bear. Bear Fur nice and warm in front of the fireplace.

A dog that kills chickens is going to keep doing it. You need to make a dog proof pen before you get more chickens. So sorry you lost your chickens.
@maryalice850712 сағат бұрын
I would have never guessed a dog !! My first thought was the bear because the panel was ripped off, but it would have eaten all three. Second thought was a raccoon. If the farmers dog wanders i think he should invest in one of the new collars that let you put a range fence that encompasses your property. It works with a smart phone and if they try to cross it they get a shock. It’s like touching a electric fence. I know it sounds mean but it’s better then being shot by someone else the first time they saw it, after catching it on camera killing their chickens. The dog and farmer were lucky you are the neighbor because someone else might have not reacted so nicely. My relatives in tennessee didn’t play when it came to their animals. They especially loved their chickens. They would have told the farmer if they saw it on their land again they would shoot it and that farmer would have understood why. I wouldn’t trust that dog just because the farmer said it wouldn’t hurt kids or other dogs. It hunts to eat raw meat !! If that dog is hungry enough all bets are off. That’s just nature. JoJo is about the same size those chickens were. You also let your chickens free range. Maybe that’s what happened to the first one that went missing. Sorry for the rant but it kind of makes me a litte mad that it was someones dog. If it were a wild dog it would be more understandable but it’s not !! On another note there is a collar that you could get for JoJo that would show on your phone wherever she is. Lol, i would have loved to have a smart phone when my kids were teenages. I never had to track down my grandson when he got old enough to go around the neighborhood on his own because i could see exactly where he was in snapchat. I watched him while his patents were at work. He turned it off on my side as soon as he was old enough to watch himself. His parents do still use it to track him until he turns 18. He went to japan last year with his dad and told me he turned it back on so i could follow his trip. It was funny and fun watching his little avaitar exploring japan. I just know that would have saved me alot of time and grief hunting for my teenagers. Sorry for the book. GOOD LUCK !!I hope i see you got that bear in the next vlog. I hope you have a Great week and Thanks for sharing !!

Your kids and dog ARE NOT safe. Dogs running in packs killing animals will be triggered by anything small if they are hungry or agitated. I would not leave your children unattended.
@gavinchurch61093 сағат бұрын
Watch the children when you get more then two dogs they get pac mentality and can be dangerous be careful guys if you neighbours love there dogs let them love them at home lol
