Hey, we don't have an organization here, we just take care of 2 Temples and about 100 dogs per month giving them anti tic/mange meds. We only have money to spay the females and only get donations from locals/friends/family that know what we've been doing 6 years or so.

robert b. I totally agree. if you cannot care for your pet then just ask. for help. I solved my unable to walk my dog by taking in a homeless guy. This was best thing I have ever done. A boy of the streets and a walker for our dog. 20 months later and we are family. my elderly 16 yr old staffy passed away but later I was able to rescue a homeless young dog cos the lad was an animal lover also dog had 2 young cat companions.

thank God for all of you. OK I understand what both of you were saying, but my feeling is this, if it's a stray, you should be able to find a room, a closet or something to get this baby out of the elements. If it was indeed their dog, same goes. but all is well that ends well.

Listen to vid - the people had other dogs in their house. What if their animals didn't like the dog and would hurt them? She said she did not believe it was their dog. Plus, he might b sick.

Wilfred is not a Scotty. Scotties are either all black or brindle in color..Going by the color and the tail being docked he is probably a Schnauzer or a Schnauzer-mix. Schnauzers are a little bit taller than Scotties and have a little bit trimmer build. I had Scotties for a couple decades. Both breeds have good temperaments and are good family dogs - but they let you know if something is wrong or a stranger is around. The West Highland Whites closely resemble Scotties. They are just a tad shorter but their build is similar. The Western that I had was a runner. "Why walk somewhere when you get there faster running!" I didn't find the Westie to be as protective as a Scottie. He never barked to announce a visitor. My favorite Scottie never barked at a familiar car. Once the person had been there 2 times the Scottie never alerted us. However if someone visited us with a different car we'd be alerted. That blessed dog would then remember both of those cars and never bark at them again. My Scottie was a neat freak. Once groomed he'd walk around puddles for about 2 weeks. He was potty trained so well. We took an afternoon trip and left the dog at home. We ended up getting caught in a freak blizzard. He was home alone for 28 hours. He did not take a potty break anywhere in the house - but you'd never believe how fast he ran outside as we unlocked the door. He didn't come back in for 15 minutes. Normally he'd be out around 5 minutes unless a family member went out also. I miss him terribly and it's been 40 years!

Well Done for your wonderful help ! It IS either a Schauzer or Cross. Scottish Highland Terriers are Black West Highland Terriers are White. :)

that is not a Scottie! Scottie's have very pointed ears that are never cropped. He is a cross breed, probably with another terrier but not a scottie. Unfortunately some people don't realize that clipping a dog during the winter is not always wise especially if you live in a cold climate.

+the wolve pack cats do not get as much attention. Although more are homeless. There are a few reasons for this, a couple being their ability to hide better than dogs. And dogs rely on people more than cats.

Because they weren't sure if the dog is ill or not. If the dog had parvo it could be the end of their own pets. They kept him on the porch, made him a makeshift bed, likely fed/watered him and called for help. They did the right thing. Although, I would find it extremely hard to leave an animal outside like that. I get what you are saying.

***** Dogs routinely die in the cold because we domesticated them. A pet doesn't have much chance at survival when left in freezing temperatures for the same reason homeless people often die when sleeping outside after a stint in jail or hospital. Their bodies have not acclimatised to the cold. This is not it's natural habitat since being domesticated. However, as you point out, this is NOTHING when compared to the suffering of many other animals. The illegal dog trade for example. 25 million dogs are killed every year. The belief is that the more pain the animal endures, the better the meat so they beat until bones are broken (sometimes for weeks before it's death), skin the dogs whilst still alive and throw them in boiling water or blow torch them. Sometimes they are electrocuted. Westerners say this is barbaric. Whilst I agree, I think we are hypocrites. We do not need animal products to sustain life or at the very least, we could easily survive whilst consuming animal products once or twice a week. The mind cannot comprehend the numbers of animal that are slaughtered for human greed. Our ways of slaughtering are not pleasant either and anyone who thinks otherwise is telling themselves a fairy tale.. Animals are routinely beaten, abused, boiled whilst still conscious, gassed which burns their organs from the inside out or cut up whilst still conscious. Trades that appear benign like the egg and dairy industry are not. Billions of male chicks are ground up alive in blenders or gassed every year because they are a by product of the industry. Dairy cows often collapse of exhaustion and are sent to slaughter after 2-5 years when they should live to 18- 20. They never get to keep their calf (if it's male, it will be chained so it cannot stand and develop muscle since this spoils the tenderness of the meat. It will then be slaughtered and sold as veal). Within 48 hours max the calf will be taken from the mother because it would drink it's milk. Instead WE WANT the milk. We don't need it, we simply enjoy the taste of it. So we rob the calf and kill it because of human greed. There is so much wrong with our world. This dog on the porch by comparison, has little to worry about. However, we should not think that allowing an animal to suffer is ever acceptable. We are supposed to look after our animals when we domesticate them. It is our duty to treat them with love and compassion. There are many things people can do to reduce the suffering that their food CHOICES cause.
