Kiwi has been sitting on her eggs for a week now -- or so we thought! We caught the thief on camera! 😂

Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Little tip: mark the date on the eggs each time you gather them to put them under kiwi. Just kind of helps keep track of how old they are. I though you were going to incubate some?

Stitch could well have been asleep at the time and wasn't aware enough to avoid a tired mama pig flopping down to sleep. A sad accident, I think seperating them at night shouldn't be a problem. The piglets can snuggle together at night if they get cold.

@@GenuinelyJodi At 2:40 you can see the six big ones all piled up plus the runt. The later shots of her rolling over I saw a piglet in the corner that could have been the runt, that or they picked it up since it's so tiny and didn't want to risk it getting hurt.

Cannibalism is actually quite common for chickens, pigs, and other animals. That's why those commercial pig farms use farrowing crates to protect the piglets 😕

Maybe the geese want their nest ON the ground, not elevated? Instinct about eggs getting to dry up there? Or cold, who knows how geese think:) Darker? Choises, choices. Make two other nest variations and let them choose? And/or put in nesting material. Isn't it in the wooing to them to build the nest together? If the geese built you two a "nest", I doubt it would have the things you looking for in "making babies" spot:)

yes geese and ducks can tell whether they are healthy or fertilised. They get rid of the rotten eggs and keep the healthy ones.
