I'm sure there are hundreds of courtrooms that the officers of the court and staff even the judge go to work every day with regrets due to the "same old grind" procedures. I'm not saying working in Judge Caprio's courtroom is always easy work, however because he keeps the atmosphere very lighthearted and compassionate (when possible) the staff probably go home and smile about something that happened most every day. This great judge understands the letter of the law, but also appreciates the "spirit" of the law. Great show!

Wisdom of the elders. This is just pure gold, you just have to look at the re offence rate to see that it works. Its like my olds grilling me over something that you should have known better in first place. Just the fact that you have to stand there and cop it from them would deter me no end. Congrats guys xxx

If only everyone in a position of power would use common sense and compassion like this judge, then the world would be such a better place. Maybe we all should take a leaf out of the judge's book! 💗💗💗

I want to visit RI because of Judge Capiro (and inspector Quinn and Carrigan). I don't care about other places in the US, but I would love to visit the court, and see the judge irl. Not only is the judge doing an amazing job, he is teaching the world how to be kind and respectful without being a pushover. But I bet he contributes to tourism $$ to RI/Providence.

We need more Judges like this. Judge Caprio uses his discretion to better this world. People that have the honor to meet and work with this man are the luckiest I have seen. I have had the misfortune to meet the opposite.

December 31, 2017... just watching this judge makes me feel better about the justice system. It's individual justice, not social justice, not whatever justice a majority of the system seems to deem what the people need instead of what they deserve. Individual justice is the best case scenario that the creators of the court had hoped for. When that which is supposed to protect and serve justice no longer cares for the individuals who are to be affected by their enforcement, they are no longer serving in the interest of the body that they should be protecting. I don't agree with his judgment on the female for domestic disturbance based on her facial expressions and body language (1. Displaying happiness at the retelling of her deeds. 2. No shame, remorse, or reflection when she was confronted with her charges. 3. When the judge was not looking at her, expressions of glee with the chance of reduced sentencing being a high possibility. These indicate to me that she was a probable psychopath, not the movie kind, but the real-life kind who don't care as long as they don't get caught.) he did take precautions in keeping the case filed for six months. He has his bases covered, and he's got fielders ready in case something happens. Hoping for more judges like these, looking into the circumstances instead of just what the law dictates.

Wish this judge was here in Utah. We have some of the worst. Luckily the only one that mattered the most to me understood my story and pushed my debt back to the original debtor, who waived it. Totally threw it right back in the face of the law firm that bought my hospital bill, HAHAHAHAAA!!!! And to top it all off, that law firm lost 2/3 partners that year, lost the contract with the ambulance that took me to the hospital, AND closed up shop. The judge of my case amazed me, completely!

I think Judge Caprio is not like any other in NY where I had court experience as my father a court steno brought me to his judges sessions. I was injured in an accident by Home Depot but look forward to settling it soon and would like to help people with their fines as I have a feeling for these defendants as I have been a defendant myself over the years.

I would have definitely asked the woman with a history of making life threats to take anger management classes. It can’t hurt. Pointing a gun results in a criminal record that stays with you. She just didn’t have a gun. So why not take anger management even if she is acquitted of the fine.
