My 1998 silverado replaced the distributer and camshaft sensor all new wires, spark plugs, distributer cap and rotor. Shortly after puller a po1345 camshaft to crankshaft correlation code. Cleared the code and then it went to a misfire code on cylinder 6. i ended up replacing the crankshaft position sensor and then did a reset on the ecm using alligator clips. Removed the negative battery cable and hooked one end of the clip to the positive cable still connected to the battery and the other end to the unhooked negative battery cable. Let it set for about 10 to 15 minutes. Now it runs like new and no more codes. Originally it idled good but when you got up in higher rpms it would shutter and misfire. This took care of the issue thank goodness.

I've got a 1996 c1500. Reman motor with less than 2,000 miles. Started out with a cylinder 7 misfire, cleaned the plug, that turned into p0300 multiple misfires. Now, new plugs, distributor, retimed, EGR, pcv, and fuel filter. Still throwing p0300. Any ideas?
@robertzollars208320 күн бұрын
@cameronbachelor4066 since you replaced the distributor the camshaft sensor was also included, I would go ahead and replace the crankshaft sensor and reset the ecm. The two sensors communicate with each other.

After watching this video many of times, I will just blow off or vacuum the dirt on my air filter, my MAF sensor is still good because I made sure that the air filter is securely on it. I have to check spark plug again and maybe use my old ignition coils that I kept when I replace with the other new ones. It is always good to keep old ignition coils that is known to work. I watched another video saying dumping HEET Bottle anti-freeze water evaporator into the gas tank driving it for a while will work. Clogged Exhaust I know I do have because P0420 came up before P0300 and I know I have to replace my rear catalytic converter. In a forum said that if you replace the rear catalytic converter, you will have to replace the two front catalytic converters as well. The one by radiator and the one against the firewall. Without changing the rear catalytic converter for so long, that maybe my spark plug been burning so much, and the gap has widened on its own?

Don’t forget bad gas! Water in the fuel will absolutely give you a P0 300. Also, don’t drive the car If the check engine light is flashing! It doesn’t take long for it to ruin the catalytic converters.

What would be good for treating bad gas? And how did you fix yours
@johnsamuels60216 ай бұрын
Dry Gas/Gasline Antifreeze. (It’s alcohol). It mixes with the water and allows it to be burned up. I also used a good quality gas/diesel additive

Along with the P0300 mine is showing B2961 which I found out is the BCM. Should I change BCM first to see if that works? Also I changed the plugs about 2 months or so ago. Thanks Greg

The BCM usually only affects components located in the body, not the engine, unless there is a wiring issue.

Ok I have a 06 trailblazer 4.2 litre I changed out the fuel pump /injectors /coils/plugs/o2 sensor/checked the cat in it that was clear all new gaskets on intake and throttle body and it still has the code and I did a compression check and there all the same there all over 200 so I have no idea I even checked for vacuum leaks with my machine and nothing I’m stumped any ideas on what else to check ? Or could cause this ?

Misfires can be hard to troubleshoot sometimes, since it is a P0300 code that usually means it's something that would affect the whole engine such as a sensor, fuel pressure, air intake. If the engine runs OK, it might be only an only 1-3 cylinders causing the problem. The spark plugs could be removed and matched to a spark plug burn chart to see which cylinders are having the issue.

Do you think it could be a fuel pressure regulator because I know it is not the fuel pump or filter but has low pressure
@HVAC_Mechanic Жыл бұрын
A bad fuel pressure regulator can cause low fuel pressure.
@rosskennedy19608 ай бұрын
Have you looked at the TPS? this sensor can cause issues with your fuel/air ratio. Also make sure you clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner as it could be sticking.

You can do the basics of checking your spark plugs and ignition coils..air filter if its dirty...but most of the time you get a misfire when the car is cold is because of a bad intake gasket...when the engine is hot you don't see leaks because everything expands....

@HVAC_Mechanic5 ай бұрын
A bad 02 sensor will not let the engine go into a what's called a closed loop, which will cause the engine to be less responsive and possibly use more gas, but it won't cause a misfire.
