This was one of the coolest dives I've ever done. I'm glad someone like you guys were able to capture it so clearly so I could show people.

This video is super exciting!! I love diving but cave diving?!?! No way!! It looks beautiful but I'm a bit claustrophobic and would not do well diving in caves!! Keep your videos coming! You have such talent!!

Great video. Planning on doing this excursion, just wondering the depth of these dives?. Surprised they only require you to have a OW cert seeing as this is cave diving.

These are super easy dives, less than 40ft if I remember correctly. It’s NOT cave diving in the technical sense as I explained in the video - it’s actually “cavern” diving! You should definitely go, it’s amazing! You would need an advanced cert or more for the deeper and more technical “cavern” dives offered in the Cenotes near here

We did these two dives a few years ago. We had over 500 open water dives each but no cave/cavern experience, so this was very cool. We recommend it but not for beginners usually. You need good buoyancy control, frog kick mastery, and not be unnerved by the cave parts. That said it was a great experience--so glad we had it. I wonder if there are any dive operators who will shlep your gear to/from the cave entrance / parking lot? I'm 79 so I have an excuse dammit...

That is a great idea for some dive operators to consider. I believe I saw a few DMs carrying down tanks for others! You are so right about buoyancy control and frog kick mastery. Luckily, the small group size really helps out!

There is El Pit cenote right in the same park. Quite different. Deep. With halocline and acidic layer. Spectacular dive.

I am planning on doing these same dives in 2 weeks. What camera do you use? And any recommendations on settings?

I had my GoPro and used my dive light as a video light - no special settings but I edit in Premiere Pro. Have fun!!

do you need a certificate of some sort? if so how did you go about obtaining it?

You need your Open Water Scuba Diver cert to go diving here - same as any other place for scuba!

Nice video, do you ever do caves? I recommend checking out Merida. If you’re curious you can see what the diving is like on my channel but I think you would love it. If you aren’t into caves, the cenotes and caverns are pretty nice as well.

Thank you! And awesome recommendation, I (Blake) am actually very interested in getting my cave diving certifications! Your videos are awesome - we should link up next time we are in Mexico!

I dived the Barbie Line and the Bat Cave in January 2023. It was the dive of a lifetime. There is an interesting rock with a snail like fossil in it on the Barbie Line. I gashed the top of my head surfacing in the Bat Room (which smells strongly of ammonia and has a layer of bat poop floating on the surface) but was OK.

They are great dives! Definitely lots of bat poop in the bat cave! Worth it!
