This rescue mission required the collaboration of 4 rescue organizations!
Freddy Kelly, founder of #PALRescue contacted #HopeForPaws to complete this rescue in the desert and they offered to foster the mom and puppies. When we got there, we discovered a bonus dog and they didn't have a foster home, so I asked my friend Shira Astrof, founder of #TheAnimalRescueMission if she had a foster available, and she figured it out for me right away.
Once Katie McKittrick, Alex Babcock, and I accomplished the rescue successfully, we headed back to Los Angeles so we could give everybody a nice warm bath and of course a complete checkup at CARES.
Starshine (the mom) and her babies continued to PAL Rescue to be fostered, and when the puppies were weaned and didn't need their mom anymore, we had to split the family because caring for 8 dogs is A LOT of work for one person!

I definitely agree. Sadly, so many people abandon their animals in the desert and without help, their chances of survival are non-existing. If she wasn't fed by Brent and didn't have the needed calories to create milk for the babies, they would have all died. I'm glad Hope For Paws got the call ❤

Crawling into a tight pipe with a dog you don't know. Comforting her, talking to her, gently and carefully pushing her, ripping your pants in the process. Not pulling her out because you don't want to stress her; rather show empathy for the pain she must have because she needs to nurse her puppies. Keeping it cool and patient and as comfortable as possible for the dog all the time. Crawling into another cave after all that. The amount of selflessness and dedication you guys put into your job is just unbelievable.

TOTALLY! That's why I gripe to alot of other rescue videos on youtube because so many not only handle the dogs horribly, but not many are patient and willing to do what it takes TO RESCUE WITHOUT TRAUMA!! Eldad has a natural empathetic touch.

Beautiful, patient, compassionate rescue. You are all heroes! Who knows how long those puppies would have survived in the desert?! A few weeks ago I was approached by someone from the SPCA asking for donations and having lost my best friend George a Wirehaired Griffon months back I decided to donate $25 a month to help in the feeding and care that they so badly need to keep helping situations like this. My heart breaks everytime I see any animal in distress or in need of shelter. What's $25 a month, I can spare it by simply going without a pizza or burger meal for a day. Eldad was actually able to turn around in this one. I recently watched the one where the two ladies had to pull him out by his legs because he couldn't even crawl back out backwards. And he went back in many times! He'd dug into a little bank to create the entrance, and it could have caved in at any moment. There were EIGHT puppies, plus the final check to make sure he got them all. I don't know how his britches didn't rip during that rescue, but he does have angels watching over him and his crew!

Six hours driving, two hours just getting the dogs (or more), then bathing them and feeding them, then taking them to be cared for. That's a lot of hours; the rescue and washing alone are a full day's work. On top of that, the loss of a pair of pants ! Eldad really worked hard on this rescue. Takes me back to the epic puppy rescue with Eldad and team where Eldad had to literally dig himself into the small cave. That had me in tears listening to the cries of terror in the pups. sadly, the mum was never found as i understood it then. You do Not have Anything to be embarrassed about!!! You guys are true hero’s for these animals and getting clothes torn trying to help them is just something that happens from time to time!!! You should be absolutely applauded for your actions!!! There’s not many people that would go into a ground pipe to try and rescue an animal they are not sure will bite or not in that tiny inclosed area.
