As a modder, this video didn't surprise me too much, just about everything can be explained as "you loaded different tsc script so when you press down on that chest it should load event 200 but since the script you loaded doesn't have event 200 logged the script fail-safes to the latest event which is like event 280 for example" and stuff like that. It's a cool video but when you mod, you deal with this kind of stuff all the time lol; I can't tell you how many times I've messed up tilesets, npc tilesets, scripts, music, and TRAs.

It's actually possible to corrupt Cave Story with a good program like Vinesauce ROM Corruptor or CuteSquirrel9's ROM Corruptor, but it's also very unstable (half the time it doesn't work).

i probably shouldve specified somewhere that this is meant for the original freeware version of the game. i think cave story+ uses similar data files so theres a chance that some things could work, but i honestly forgot that cave story+ was a thing until after i uploaded this... if youre using the freeware version of the game, make sure that you copied the game files such that "Doukutsu.exe" and everything in the same folder as it is directly inside of the "out" folder. The corrupter writes its shuffled data files to out/data/... so make sure that there arent any folders between those two. i think those are the two most common issues. if youre having trouble somewhere else, you may need to be more specific about what your problem is.
