There are records of dog ghosts- aside from all that classic lore, within this, the third millennium, a claim has been made by the owners of a castle that a ghost dog used to go around, but left after bones were uncovered in the basement/dungeons/whatever

Fun fact: a ghost cat used to haunt my old house (from my childhood). I think it stuck around cause it was still looking for it’s owner, though at the time I was too young to think of asking the previous owners (I didn’t even know who they were). But yeah, animal ghosts are a thing, just I think much more rare
