Mr Kevin Johnson.. I call him "My Coach".. I remember back in 2006 when he was part of Sundowns development and Miguel Gamundi was in charge of the 1st team. I went for open trials at Chloorkop and he was not even scouting on the day but was watching from the other side of the pitch. After the trial, the scout of the day (Mambush) chose the guys who had made it and I wasn't one of them. And as I was about to take of my bib, this guys came running from where Coach was sitting and he told us not to take off our bibs. I was still disappointed because I thought I hadn't made it, but the guy asked who in the green team was playing on the left, so since there were 2 of us there, the guy who was playing left back raised his hand, then the guy called Coach and said " Hey Kevin! This one (pointing to the left back)?", and Coach shook his head and said "No, the tall one". I then shouted "Me?", then Coach said " Yes you, put your name on the list".. At the time, I didn't even know who Coach was but I have respected him from that day. Even when we went for the 2nd and 3rd trial, he called me by my African name (Thembinkosi). Pity that was also around the time I was called to join the SANDF and since we didn't get the results of how we played the same day, I was forced to join the Defence force and let go of my dream. It just wasn't meant to be.. Anyway, my point is that I still rate you amongst the best coaches, who has an eye for raw talent, that our country has ever produced.. Much respect to you Sir....
