The early days of illegal AM CB radio were great fun. Until a voice from beyond the grave replied to a call...

Found your channel, great story subbed also. I actually have a recording that I made while on the radio of what I think was a weird conversation from space pick up. I later found out that the guy that is on the recording had passed away a year before I heard the conversation. This was in the late 70's listening off of a Star Duster antenna back then.

Interesting encounter for sure. My father lived on a plantation in his early teens and had an encounter with what was later identified by one of the older plantation workers as a ghost. The gentleman described the young lady exactly. I feel there are only a few who have the ability to experience these events and even though creepy or scary it is somewhat a privilege they choose to be seen by you. I enjoyed your recount of your experience. ✌✌

As I lived with woods all around for miles, and had not yet my ham license, I spent the late 1970s to mid-1980s on CB. Many of those memories are lost to time but, I can remember some very odd occurrences happening within the radio spectrum. If I wasn't fooling around with the CB, I was listening intently to SW, VHF/UHF, anything I get a receiver for. I did drink quite a bit too back then so, I cannot prove or disprove anything that happened. Maybe you and I did hear out-of-the-ordinary things, or maybe not. Fun the think about, the few I might remember so long ago now...Thanks

I had 2 episodes in the 70s of hearing conversations of people I know who had passed away in our community that frequently we're on channel 17 cb here in Ohio . This was during the extremely active sunspot cycle at that time in the summer of 77 . I always wondered about how much the solar flare activity had to do with how it affected the things we heard.

@@g4nsj Yeah certain frequencies of radio waves can get "stuck" in the Earth's ionosphere for years. Creepy as heck, but... what you were hearing might have been in reality a short conversation that happened years ago. you kept hearing "I'm here." etc.. over and over because the waves bounced all over before you got them. The signal kinda fragmented as it bounced around and what you were hearing was basically echoes of it. Like you observed.... it doesn't really seem like the person you're hearing is actually responding to you. Which raises a question... what transmitter was she using? I have no way to figure it out and I doubt you do either, but the important part is the transmission power. it's like making echoes with sound. The louder the sound the more likely you are to hear an echo. A weaker transmitter might have just given you intermittent bursts of static instead of audible speech.

Her name was Angela Egan. She was the eldest of 2 children in a farmhouse about 1 km away from the location. Both children died of consumption in 1932. The parents disappeared after the deaths of both children. Whereabouts unknown. They were buried off the property without permanent markers apparently due to financial issues with the family.

I had a somewhat similar happening when I was a teenager, I had been listening to my grandfathers radio about a year after he passed away. He had given my brother the radio and he left the batteries in too long which ruined the c cell holder and rotted the wires. I had on 107.5 Toronto tuning to their rock station which most of Us did, I went to bed about 1am unplugging the radio from ac (the only way it worked now) putting it on the prep counter. I awoke trusty at about 5am and went downstairs to get a drink not notching the radio now playing on 93.5 Barrie's oldie station. My grandparents station. I walked over and turned it off and as usually had drank half the glass of milk and refilled it again then on came the radio louder this time and I then realized it was not plugged in and dropped the full glass of milk smashing it all over the kitchen floor and I bolted through the very long house to the stairs and went up 15 stairs in 3 strides. My very clairvoyant Bi-polar mother met me at the top of the stairs scaring the complete crap out of Me and I stuttered what had just happened. She calmly went down to check things out and explained that Her father was very upset with my dad when he passed over and had wanted to forgive my father fr taking him so many times which my dad refused leaving him between plains as she believed it. I had 2 other episodes happen, another was him slamming the walkway door(exactly where the back door of the cottage my dad tore down my grandfathers second cottage to build a addition without his permission) and when it happened to Dad he nearly shit himself.I had something evil grab Me in 1984 at 64 Montgomery Ave in Toronto (Yonge & Eglinton) and I was unable to move while this entity had a hold of my right arm shocking me like electricity but more painful, I finally pulled myself free and when I was getting up something threw me back hard onto the bed, believe it or not I hit something with a right uppercut and it went through the basement door falling down the stairs. I went out at 7:30 am in my underwear and sat there till one of my roommates came home from night shift went in packed my bags and moved out that afternoon. There was something evil sharing that 150 year old semi detached home and many that lived there or beside had things happen to them also.

My stepdad told me a story about when he was a kid back in the 50's he heard a transmission from the Lusitania as it was being sunk. I guess that signal must have bounced around for decades. He didn't know what the Lusitania was until he went to his dad and said there was a ship sinking and they needed to get help. his dad then told him that that ship sunk a long time ago. Not really a ghost story but still kind of spooky to hear a transmission from people that were just about to die from decades ago.

hi Ray, i love this video. cartainly one of your best! you may not like telling these stories, but you sure are good at it. i have an open mind, and listen to radio shows concerning the weird, strange and paranormal for years. you should call the show (coast to coast am) and tell your ghost story. due to time you would have to greatly shorten it. you are truly a masterful story teller and speaker with a great voice. im an avid fan of yours and cant get enough of your vids regardless of the subject. do you have more stories about weird radio phenomena? please tell them. maybe explain some strange things (not necessarily paranormal) about radio phenomena and communications. i will enjoy whatever you come up with!

Good one Ray. Now, if your girlfriend's name was also Angela and turns out she died in an accident in that area years later that would be really freaky. I'm a scientist through and through but stories like this do make you wonder about the unknown unknown.

" The non-physical world is explorable and understandable, therefore scientific" Hold it right there. You may claimt hat you can do tests, though I doubt with any validity, since it would rely ont he same emotional apes that we are rather than instruments. They also need to verifiable and replicable. Can you or anyoen else do that?

Speaking of Ghost stories, this small plane turboprop, the pilot had a heart attack. Man and wife, small plane. The woman gets on the radio. She makes contact with the airport control tower. The voice talks her down. She lands the plane and thanks them.... But they said we didn't talk with you, no one was on the radio at all. They discovered the microphone and headset were not even plugged into the radio. There was no way it could have worked. The man and woman were gospel preachers. Seems God was on the radio with her. Took her about an hour to land the plane while being talked down.

I saw a dramatization of this on TBN once. Or maybe it was a different, similar incident. Very compelling story. I think it was an angel on the radio, though.

@@g4nsj My brother (now 80) used to go to a spiritualist church in Grafton St and remembers a clairvoyance session in which a young girl appeared. She had been tragically blinded in a car park accident when her sort of boyfriend had been the driver. He was charged with her later murder but not convicted. She is burried in Christ Church cemetery near the spiritualist building and her grave can be seen there. Apparently she still looks for her boyfriend but has to touch people to identify them. My brother stopped going to these sessions shortly afterwards and will not talk any further about it.

*Maybe she had one of those pan scopes and was following your signal around. Could they have made voice "modulators" in the 60's that could change the pitch of your voice as a DIY with the parts at the time?

Hi Ray. In the early 2000s just after my father died some times I would hear his whistling on topband. If I would whistle without even keying the microphone I who hear a whistle reply but faint and no s meter reading. It only happened over a week but was very interesting at the time. Thx Glenn.

Yer it was strange. Sometimes you could hear faint sounds similar to gun shots as well. Cause I remember my wife and I joking saying someone's having a battle lol. But this only would happen on topband. Cheers Ray.

Another smashing Radio related Story Ray. Having just sat through an Advanced Amateur Radio Class where the tutor became irritable and dismissive at many of us who could not grasp first time how to calculate Resistance, Capacitance and Inductance in simple circuits, Could I humbly request you make some films along these lines. Us poor non electronics types who have not had electronics fed to us in the womb would welcome someone like you who is knowledgable, calm and measured to help us in this. There seems to be many people in the UK getting into Amateur Radio and very few videos on getting to grips with the course work. Our American friends are better at this, but they don't have a Ray from the Radio Workshop!73Paul

Hi Paul, ok all noted. I'll try and put together some videos when I get time. I recall an amateur radio course I attended in my early teens. It was totally useless. The lecturer knew nothing about amateur radio. He went on about how transistors work and, in the end,. someone told him that was irrelevant. I got help from other amateurs in the end and got my license. Cheers, Ray.
