This is Part 28 of my trip continuing the journey through Estonia. Having had a day off the bike visiting Tallinn while I waited for the CB500X to be serviced I set off for the service, I used Motorem which fitted me in at short notice (many thanks), it needed oil, oil filter, air filter and rear brake pads and a bit of an overall check-over. All good, back on the road heading towards Latvia. A bit of an uneventful day of riding, but found a campsite a 14 KMs from the Latvian border for 10 Euros per night including shower and electricity which was pretty good.
The whole journey took me through the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and into Norway right the way up to Nordkapp, the furthest point you can travel by motorcycle or car in mainland Europe and then back through Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Belgium and France over a 7 week period late May - mid July 2023
I am back in the UK now, but please do add your comments and I'll get back to you.
Hoping you can "Like" the video, as this does help the channel.
All my best wishes, thanks again for watching
Nick

It was nice of the shop to work you in on short notice. It’s been my experience here in the USA that if you’re on the road, the shops will try to accommodate your needs where as if you need to schedule maintenance, it might to up to a month to get an appointment. You are so right about traveling solo; you can set your own pace and direction. Looking forward to next week’s video. Cheers, Jim

Hi Jim, yes I was lucky and spending an extra day in Tallinn wasn't a hardship either 😁 Nick

18:20 The fact that the U.K. has a brand of pre-cooked food named "Batchelor" is flipping hilarious! The only thing more depressing than eating t.v. dinners at home, is being reminded by the packaging that no woman could ever possibly love you. 😅😂 I've often joked that canned stews such as Dinty Moore should be called 'bachelor chow.' Please note: As you are on a moto-tour none of the above applies to you and it is perfectly acceptable to eat Batchelor brand products. Also, I'm sure you do quite well with the ladies.

🤣🤣🤣 Many thanks for this really amusing comment! I hadn't even considered the relevance of the name! Maybe I should stick with Heinz in the future! Nick

Struck me when you talked about the straight roads in Estonia that they are in fact known for road racing and, indeed, it was there that the late, great, Joey Dunlop unfortunately lost his life. You deserve extra credit for sticking with the camping even if it means dehydrated pasta meals. 😋🤣

Wow, I hadn't realised that, thanks for the info. I saw Joey race at the IOM TT a couple of times probably early 80s, what a champ he was. Rehydrated pasta, what's not to love! 😁 Nick

Good to be able to get your bike serviced and checked over en-route but you could have done without the payment uncertainty and faffing! You obviously enjoy the freedom and flexibility of riding solo and not having too many time constraints....the relaxed pace makes for a relaxing watch. Cheers.

Many thanks Quentin, yes getting the bike serviced without having to be at a specific point weeks in advance was just great. Solo touring is my preference and being the age I am means I don't have the same time constraints as "less mature" riders 😉 Nick

Hi Nick Just ordered a Garmin xt2 and looking at yours I see it’s mounted on the cross bar on the windscreen, I don’t think the mount that comes with the Garmin will allow me to mount it there, so my question is, what mount have you used and does it allow to be powered with the cables supplied? Sorry about all the above 😊 Thanks

Was that your first rear pad replacement? I changed my rear on my 600 miles service as the stock pads were, well not great, put a set of EBC on and the difference was massive. Only 5 months before I go on my first tour, not solo, but I can’t wait, not an epic one like yours though

Yes, first set of pads, I hadn't noticed lack of braking with standard pads, but my pave is somewhat relaxed 😁 Have a fantastic trip in a few months! Nick

Question. Since you rode through europe last year. I am going through Denmark. Germany. Chech republic. Austria. Slovenia and Croatia. Do i need anything for the roads there? Prepaid toll or anything at all i nned to know. Riding my motorcycle.

Nothing specific that I can recall apart from original registration document for the bike, insurance document (certificate) and I carried my driving license (never needed this) and passport of course. There were a couple of small tolls paid as I encountered them but tended to avoid toll roads. I think that's it. Have a fantastic trip!!!!! Nick
