CB750 first ride since 1984

Short video of my first ride on my 1980 Honda CB750F Super Sport since 1984. I purchased the bike new in July 1980 and drove the bike to work (64 miles each way) for 3 years with a big vindicator fairing and a stereo. Then I bought the new Honda VF750F Interceptor in 1983 and let my brother use the CB for a few months. He laid it down and gave it back to me pretty banged up. It's been sitting on the side of my house from 1992 till 2015 when I did a complete tear down and restoration. Finally got the carbs rebuilt and was able to take her out for the first ride on 23 Oct 2016. The old girl ran pretty sweet for a 40 year old bike!
You may notice that the Tachometer goes dead about mid-way thru the video. The cable came loose and dropped out of the Tach...easy fix. Some minor tuning is still required as well as paint and recovering the seat. I'll put out an update when I get her painted.

Good job!!! That black car started goin in your lane cuz they had not seen any vehicles for a while. You should take it to do track days . Be safe and have fun!

It's a megaphone style with the baffles installed, similar to the old Kerker exhausts back in the day. I need to give kudos to Delkovic for their great design and high quality fabrication of this exhaust system.

They rev very quickly when tuned correctly. I spent a lot of time testing various jetting settings and when the top end is jetted right, the engine really gets busy around 6,000 RPM all the way to the 9500 RPM redline. I bet your Dad would get a kick out of you getting one...

Thanks. I did say that i would put a video together when painted and a new seat. Unfortunately, I had an issue in getting the paint job done. It caused a significant delay in completing the bike. I'm working on a video of the tear- down, assembly and final product. hope to get it out soon.

How good do these babys handle the twistys? I want a bike that looks amazing and sounds amazing goes amazing and corners amazing, i dont like the super/sport bikes we have these days they ride uncomfortably to me. These i've heard are comfy.

These bikes handle very well in the twistys and they are comfortable to ride. You don't lean on your wrists when you ride the Supersport. Check out the review of the 1980 CB750F at www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Honda/honda_cb750f_80.htm In the article, the CB takes on the Ducati 900 Desmo SS, which was considered the best handling motorocycle at the time and kicks it's butt. I would shop for a 1980 or later model since they made a lot of suspension and frame improvements in 1980.

Rage Incarnate Yeah these old inline 4 cylinders can get it done and can hurt ya if your not careful. They are Hondas first speed bikes. I put one in storage years ago because It would hurt me. lol It's in very good shape. Been sitting many decades now. Gonna dig it back out now that I'm older and wiser on the throttle. lol
