I have discovered his music on the day he died. Better late than never. Rest in peace Gordon Lightfoot.

A friend of mine played piano (exceptionally well) at a local hotel, offering a notebook on top of the piano listing her songs. A hotel guest pointed to “If You Could Read My Mind”, saying “play that one and I’ll sing it”. She looked up to see Gordon standing there smiling. A crowd formed out of nowhere and listened in disbelief. Wish I’d been there, too.

Wow, I guess we are all getting old. I saw Gordon on October 3, 1971 at Music Hall when he came to Cleveland Ohio. A great time to be a teen: Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor and of course Moody Blues. Getting old but still have the great memories. Thanks, Mr. Lightfoot, and everybody else.

My husband Eric and I emigrated to Canada in 1971 just after we were married and I discovered Gordon Lightfoot! He was so cool and we played his LPs non stop. My husband died in 2018 and once again Gordon got me through some very tough times. I play his cds in my car when travelling and at the top of my voice I join him. Thank you Gordon for all the pleasure and help you have given me.

Loved this guy over the decades and his music never ceases to move me in a heartfelt way. ' Ring them Bells' is such a treat and, in my opinion, surpasses Dylan's original. But Bob, in that song, was his truly soothsaying self in portending the state of our planet today.

Dylan was born into the shadow and beauty of the moment in time of this artist's legacy. So were we all. But we respect the fact that Gordon Lightfoot got here first! I get teased about my name: Gordon Henry'c. Gordon Lightfoot, tread heavy footprints of musician songwriting influence and yet, the world has still been playing alot of ketchup ever since.

If they were shooting Gordon Lightfoot’s biopic, and doing a scene based on this you tube clip, Bill Nighy would be playing Gord as the elderly gent being interviewed at home watching, while Bryan Cranston is playing the Gord accepting the award from Dylan (Adam Sandler presumably) and making the speech. Chris Pratt’s Gord would not be featured, but would’ve been accepting awards as best folksinger and composer of the year during the “70s” portion of the biopic.

Christopher Murphy, After seeing the interview excerpt with Ed Bradley (60 Minutes) where he basically said that he made a bargain with the devil for his success, I’m not surprised by any weird energy that Dylan evinces. The man clearly has issues. Sad.

Paul Mccartney is buying back his music catalog song by song yearly from that little thief Michael Jackson. Bob Dylan just sold his for an ungodly amount! I read where David Crosby sold his because "He has a mortgage and a family to feed". WHAT!!!! At 80 years old, these former rock stars should be set for life - poor money management or something. Think of most people living paycheck to paycheck.

A great talent. A national treasure. And, like so many national treasures, clung to by professional parasites. Yes, there was a time when talent as big as Townsend, Elton, and McCartney and Lightfoot would be scooped up and sent to a conservatory by a government which loves its citizens, rather than being introduced to debauchery and bled for their productive output.
