The centerfold being detached from 1 staple in a lower grade does not impact the grade.

I understand the need to encapsulate a book by the grading companies to provide confidence to the buyer that the book has not been tampered with (however, the CGC scandals show that slabs can certainly be compromised). However, in this day and age, with EVERYTHING being digital and online, it would make sense for grading companies to provide a short video of each graded book. The grading company could simply record the book (just like you do in your video) from an overhead camera as they flip through each page of the book. This would provide the state of the book before it has been encapsulated.

Fantastic idea! In this case I think it's just laziness. CBCS had there own scandal a few years back. They were so back-logged that it was taking a year to get your books back! I was a victim of this. During that period a former employee shared publicly that that books sometimes went home with graders and many were just lost. CBCS quickly denied this but I think there is some truth to it.

Isn’t there a tier of graders who look at these books? This is such a shame that the detached bottom staple in centerfold was missed.
