When you do visual field test, for a short time of about 5 minutes per eye, you are testing all areas of your eyes and visual parts of your brain. This is the only time that damaged areas of your optic nerve and visual parts of your brain will do real exercise; in or other ciscumstance healthy areas will cover up the deficiencies to help you to see better; This is why glaucoma and stroke silently takes a bit of your vision each day without you noticing anything until it is too late. Eye drops and operations help to control the the eye pressure and slow down the progress. There is also another option to consider; practicing eye exercises that test your ability to see even with area partialy affected by glaucoma or stroke. This practice induces slow regeneration of the damaged areas. This is proven by numerous studies for both stroke and glaucoma. For the stroke, exercise is absolutely accepted and required. For glaucoma, exercise as a requirement is a new area of studies and acceptance. What do scientists say about vision exercise: "“When people have a stroke that affects the motor system, they are sent to rehab as soon as possible,” says Huxlin, the James V. Aquavella, M.D. Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester’s Flaum Eye Institute. “They get retrained to use a weak arm or leg, and to regain speech.” “But if they have a stroke that affects vision, which involves more than 30 percent of our brain matter and is our dominant sense, they are told there’s essentially nothing that can be done.” They’re told “they should go home and get used to being blind.” " So what is the possible solution of this dilema at this time? Try this, simple, but rich with options, Android app, available on Google Play, which enables you to do something about your eyesight every day without any side effects.If you ever been to visual field test, you allready know how to use the app. There is only one time $4.99 fee, no ads, with free upgrade, and you can use the app for years to come. The following visual dot algorithms are embedded: random, linear(vertical/horizontal/angle), mirroring, neighbour areas,nasal peripheral, visual cognitive recognition, each with options of background colors, dot sizes and intervals from slow to very fast. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sarwar.myapplication

Ravibhai, Target pressure is individual depending on existing level of damage. But 40 is high. There are more tools for controlling pressure, from more drops to surgery if necessary. Regular follow-up with your eye doctor is important to stay on top of your glaucoma.

Poor vision can come from a lot of things in addition to glaucoma, eg., cataract and macular degeneration. Yes, glaucoma does have an inherited part, so it is worth getting your eyes checked. Contacts should not affect pressure.

Dr. Thank you for the clear explanation. My glaucoma was surgically treated 6 mos. ago. During recent field of vision test I did not see flashes in lower right quadrant, this seemed to translate to upper right on the graphical printout. Does the testing machine or brain invert the results?

How did you find out you had glaucoma. And did you lose vision from it?
@jasmynsglaucomajasmynpolit70333 жыл бұрын
@@dortiz81706 well I had to go to the eye doctor a lot as a little kid because I had cataract surgery as a baby. And I was at risk for glaucoma because of that so I had to be seen by an eye doctor more often than other children and they caught the glaucoma when I was 9 years old during one of my yearly checkup. I only lost a little bit of Vision in my right eye but my left eye has always been the worst and it's not just the glaucoma but my other eye conditions I have as well.

@@jasmynsglaucomajasmynpolit7033 that’s horrible I’m sorry. Couple months ago I developed blind spots and no doctor can tell me what it is. I’m about to do a test that looks behind the eye and the optic nerve. I’m about to turn 33 and my eye vision been declining. I’m so depressed it just came out of nowhere no pain or anything it’s robbing me of my eyesight I’m just wondering if it’s Glaucoma.

MrBorderghost, glaucoma can present in different ways. Usually it is insidious, arriving without symptoms. If there are symptoms you particularly want to know if it is angle closure or secondary to other problems. From the name of the drop, Latachris, you must live in Europe?

My dad has glaucoma and he has pretty bad eyesight, with I think I inherited from him. Is it possible for me to get glaucoma when I'm older? Would getting contacts make that chance higher in any way? Thanks

Yes. Get an eye exam soon! Glaucoma is the sneak thief of sight and usually you don't have symptoms until it takes most of your sight or all of it so please get an eye exam if you have a family history of glaucoma! :-) I would say that's the scariest thing about glaucoma is if you don't know your going to get it. Once glaucoma has taken you in sight you can't get it back
