People play to the top of the demonlist for glory. That's the point. If you EVER allow someone to get to the top with an unfair advantage, you ruin the purpose of hard levels entirely. So no matter what, it is very important to have drama/discussions/conversations about mods, since they are not vanilla and change the game. "childish over a mod in the game" First of all, the mod is not in the game, it's an addition to the game. Second, it's a game. People get good at the game to be looked at by others, which is very childish. In fact, you could say that wanting anything besides food and water is "childish". So "childish" is not relevant at all.

I'm honestly considering quitting GD at this point, because CBF is an absolute game-changer, and it should be implemented into the game. The drama over such stupid things like this is crazy, and I don't want to be scolded for using it. RobTop really needs to rethink his decision about not rating levels verified with CBF. Just wait until Doggie verifies Grief, he's using CBF. And if RobTop doesn't make a decision before he verifies it, then that could be Tidal Wave all over again, but worse. I then tried CBF a few months ago and it allowed me to do things I never thought I could do. I beat Windy Landscape in under two days. I fluked Poltergeist from 33%, and now I want to beat Acu. I have 37% and 26-93%. All I want to do is not be hated for using CBF. And if I do end up quitting and RobTop either approves CBF and/or implements it or something very similar into the game, I will definitely come back.

how many players? seriously, what does cbf do for the average player that vanilla 2.2 changes didn’t do already? you feel practically zero changes between vanilla 2.2 240fps and CBF for anything that isn’t the difficulty of like. a mainlist. and even then it only makes a significant difference for like the top 10. I’m all for this game progressing and getting harder and whatnot but why do we have to do it with a mod robtop considers cheating sure, the switch from 360 2.1 to 240 2.2 hampered top players, but the *vast majority* of this game’s *100 million players* feel much, much smoother on vanilla 2.2 compared to vanilla 2.1 60fps. it’s a massive net upgrade. we have so many different ways of expanding on difficulty. so many new camera controls, triggers, we could utilize more gamemodes, we could go a celeste or osu route and make levels REALLY LONG (why I love flamewall and ascension to heaven), we don’t have to make every hard level a wave and ship challenge with greater and greater precision every time. I don’t mind if people wanna use CBF, you’re free to do what you want, but don’t feel personally attacked when 1. the dev doesn’t like it and 2. the community in turn doesn’t like it, because odds are the mod wasn’t actually doing all that much for you anyway

The CBF blocker doesn’t make the level less accessible, if you REALLY need to play the level and REALLY need CBF just copy the level and remove the blocker. Your completion will just be illegitimate if you do beat it, which should be fine if you want to “play the game how you want” as some of you say (and as I do myself). On this basis there isn’t really any real need to start a controversy. The creator added a cool feature to the level, deal with it.

think about this, if zoink had to verify it without cbf to get it rated. and everyone else beat it with cbf, it would kind of be unfair. adding the cbf blocker evens the playing field for the verifier and victors. not to say that cbf makes the game significantly easier, but it does definitely make it easier. it would also be way harder to judge the levels difficulty in the list. which way would we judge the difficulty from? cbf or non-cbf? if you really wanted to. you could remove the cbf blocker and beat the level with it, and that would be fine. it just wouldn't be legit.

that's definitely an interesting way of thinking about it, but the way I see it is that it makes everyone's game have the same latency regardless of your fps it ends up making the game more standardized and accessible, even if it makes the game different from an unmodded copy people that can get a higher fps with better hardware won't be at an advantage, and like fps bypass, I think this will end up being much better for peoples' enjoyment short-term and set a standard for game updates in the long-term

Heres my opinion: I think we should stop caring what robtop thinks. The game was always community carried anyway, especially in top play. Tyis is one reason we should allow cbf, im pretty concrete on that (This is also the basis of my opinion that we should allow certain unrated levels on the demonlist) But cbf blockers are a lot more interesting. Because its a choice someone makes in a level that they make. And removing it from the drama and tribalism, it just makes the level less fun, needlessly. There was nothing stopping non-cbf users from playing the level anyway. Its just a net negative. Especially since its basically a given that cbf is going to be used and accepted by basically everyone soon, whether its robtops version or not. But at the same time. Its not our level. Its not our perogative to decide how someone elses level is made. If they want to make their level harder by making it more inconsistent, thats not our choice to make. And its not our choice if someone wants to play that level. I actually think it could be a pretty interesting philosophical discussion on how much the audience enjoyment plays a part in art if we (and by we im 100% including myself) stopped being so tribalistic, but unfortunately humans are gonna human
