There are a few car clubs here locally where I am in the US, but the problem is too many gatekeepers and rule makers instead of just a welcoming group that wants to have fun. I’d love to be there experiencing Thai car culture first hand. It looks like it’d be a blast! The only part I’d dislike is the heat! I’m a cool weather fan. When someone from atl is complaining about the heat, I know I’m over my head! Lol

I've been to many events in Thailand to photograph the models at different shows, but I've never been to Pathum Thani Speedway because I hate being out in the heat. The bigger ones, with more luxury and creature comforts, are the HiAce Grandia and HiAce Super Grandia. 11:51 Those would be the Toyota Altis. Known as the Toyota Corolla everywhere else. The Toyota Vios are smaller sedans. 15:40 That Vios 2nd gen is sick! One of my favorite generations of this model.

Cool event as always. Thinking about moving to Thailand next year but have an MX5 and my beloved Triumph cafe racer I don’t want to sell. I’ve heard it’s incredibly expensive to bring over cars/motorcycles into the country
@srrtbb11 ай бұрын
Yes, that's true. Since it is a miata and it is a 2 seater convertible, you'll be charged a hefty tariff. My buddy shipped his left hand drive s2k back to Thailand after school about 10 years ago. The custom charged him 400 - 600k baht = $14k - $16k if I remember correctly. Your motorcycle shouldn't be too bad. Is best if you sell it and pick one up there that's already registered and right-hand drive already anyway. My buddy had planned to switch the steering wheel over. That will cost decent for parts, but skill labor in Thailand is fairly cheap/affordable. Good luck!!!

Could this be done in the US? Yes, and has been as you explained. It's not about insurance, as much is about ignorance and greed. 1. HIN is and was one of the best along with NOPI nationals. Matter of fact, it had every one of these elements but with American Flair vs the asian flare. 2. The greed has moved things like HIN out of th convention centers (like here in Orlando and Miami) and moved it out to streets where for the same cost to the spectator and the folks showing cars has gone up but the grade of the show has gone down. There are no more models and if there was they would probably have a pe***er now. They removed the sponsors, the music, the DJ's, the lights, you know........ everything that made it a show. 3. PC culture which you brought up I don't think has a lot of effects, it's all about promoters doing things as cheap as possible. And taking advantage of car enthusiasts. 4. Tuners Invade is the closest thing we have now which is a garbage "show" in which one of the promoters is a known crook and in my opinion a pedo... people know this and STILL go to the show which is run in the middle of the day in Florida. 100 degree weather in a parking garage, nights are in the 80's and 90's and 80/100% humidity so you can imagine how well that goes and they charge top dollar. The show sucks, it's just rev bomb contests and men on men action. No women nor models there. What you see in Japan and where you are at now is still a thriving culture and tbh it's beautiful. The women are beautiful, the cars aren't just stickered and wrapped SHIT like they have here. Rather, beautiful pieces of art. I put it like this. Here in the USA they had to come up with a term called "Respect the build" because people just threw wraps on their cars and called them show pieces. NO. I do not respect it as a matter of fact you're an embarrassment to the car community. They did that so they could protect the soft snowflake feelings of these kiddos. Where you are, people actually make an effort. Shit, don't even clean cars here. Our old car shows and HIN included had something called concourse judging. They would take gloves and run up underneath your fender wells and check for dirt. We cleaned our cars OVER and OVER and then AGAIN at the car shows to make sure there was no dirt. Our car scene is garbage now, full of lazy kids. They want to rev and burn out.. or worse.. Roll race (insert rainbow here). Thank you for sharing a real event! It's nice to see... :)
