KY Church Launches Tuition-Free School After Public Library ‘Pushes’ LGBT Books on Pastor’s Daughter

"It was the first of June, and they were pushing all of these LGBTQ books on my daughter in the public library, and I was so upset."
Justin Walker, pastor of Salt and Light Baptist Church in La Grange, Kentucky, spoke with CBN News about his church's "mission" as it launches a new tuition-free school to meet the needs of his community.
Walker saw an opportunity after an experience with one of his daughters at a local public library and new the school needed to meet people wherever they are - including financially.

I like the tuition free module for education. As a ministry tool, it is very wonderful. Just as feeding the hungry, feeding free minds with is very important. Avoiding poisoning minds with worldly ideologies has affected the body of Christ for long time. Pastor you have done the right thing. God bless you.

I started a libaray for my grandchildren and i have several hundred books, i have a libaray book-nook in my livingroom, we also do fun crafts and puppet shows! Things like this should be Church and Home based. Great job Dad!! You could also have a thrift store to supplement the school income.

If the material presented to your daughter was sexually explicit I'd file a complaint with your local Police or Sheriff's department. That's would be the equivalent of handing your daughter an adult magazine or an adult rated video.

The school being a ministry of the church, rather than an independent organization, frees it from coming under federal laws to buy abortion providing health policies to its employees. As a former church Treasurer, We came across this when some members wanted to spin off the daycare center to an independent organization.

Private schools get caught up in mission creep, of wanting to be all things to all parents, and always finding more things to spend money on. If the school is free, then the school won’t have the same focus on expensive competitive sports, or big expensive facilities, etc. Volunteer staff won’t have to bend over backwards to accommodate aggressive students, etc. It will be interesting to see how they meet the demand for free school. Please keep us posted.

I am Catholic. In my Indiana parish the two churches closest to mine had waiting lists so there was a demand for another Catholic school in that area. I was on the parish council at the time the school started up. Research taught us that it was much cheaper to educate a child in a parochial school than the cost per child in a public school. The amount of waste in the public school system is sickening. We started with kindergarten and 1st grade because of space with the plan to add two grades every year. We started with the existing classrooms. Now days there is a full fledged K-8 school with all the amenities including a football field and gym with regulation basketball court. If you build it they will come.

Historically Christians ✝️ started & funded schools. They taught farm children, how to read & write, givingvthem a future, to leave off to cities; if they didn't want to farm as adults. Bible & prayer were taught & occured in school. We allowed secukarists over the years to remove them.

Amazing!!! I want to help press this message to churches!!! every mega Church should have a school from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade because they can certainly afford it. Cut the Pastor salary to a normal salary like other pastors in the world, and the school would probably be paid for.

The caution of course is careful monitoring for sexual abuse, which seems to be rampant in churches these days, so now with a school, safety parameters need to be incredibly tight and vigilant.

Here is a scinerio... Shortly after my x-wife was murdered. Our 8 yr.old had a field trip at school and wanted me to accompany him. They sent a letter of approval that i signed and was later denied. They said that since i had a misdemeanor marijuana chare that i was not allowed to join. So being judged multiple times over your downfalls. I have a great appreciation for your cause. I do not consider your discernment as discrimination. Our persicution here in the flesh is what seprates each of us. One way or another! Thank you Jesus for teaching me about the world, myself, and eternal life. We are now nearing the final battle of faith. You can not see your soul or spirit. Close your eyes to this world and open up to Jesus. He truly saves ! "No Cross, No Crown"...
