Terrifying Movie Imagining Anti-Christian Horror Seeks to 'Wake Up' America

The actors behind a powerful new movie that imagines a dystopian America where Bibles are banned, Christianity is vanquished, and believers are forced into underground churches are sharing the miracles that helped make the movie possible and the powerful messages they hope audiences take away. "Disciples in the Moonlight" stars Drew Varvel, Brett Varvel, and Josh Strychalski joined CBN News to explain the ins and outs of the movie.
"I would describe it primarily as an action suspense thriller," Brett said. "This [is a] movie that was based off of a question that Josh came to me with over 10 years ago, which was, 'What if the Bible was illegal?'" With that in mind, "Disciples in the Moonlight" focuses on seven characters who are trying to smuggle the Bible to underground churches across the U.S. at a time when the Scriptures are illegal and a new, "less-offensive" and watered-down version of the Bible is available.
Brett's real-life brother, Drew, who co-stars in "Disciples in the Moonlight," said the most exciting part of the project is that "there's nothing else like this." While the movie imagines a terrifying America - one in which the government cracks down on faith - Brett said this situation exists in other countries today. "We have freedom here in America, and what I've seen happen over my lifetime is a continual growth of apathy in the church of America," Brett said. "And, so, all of a sudden, this desire started building in my heart."
And that desire is to wake up the church and prepare people to stand if and when more intensive persecution does strike. "It really centers around the question of: 'How much do we treasure the Word of God?'" Brett said. "Is it absolute truth? Is it absolute authority in our lives? Josh has had a great quote in some of our interviews where he says, 'Am I a practicing atheist in my faith?'" He continued, "I really desire to see the church wake up here in America."
Strychalski said there were "challenges and setbacks" along the way to getting the movie made. But those issues led the team to lean into God. "All of the challenges and setbacks that we encountered in every phase of the project was really an opportunity for us to press into ... prayer," he said. "The release of this movie [can] only be explainable because God did it. And it wasn't something that we were able to muster up our strength to do on our own willpower." Watch them explain.

Read God's Smuggler by Brother Andrew!! It was written in the 60's but is so relevant today! I had a dream when I was a 7th grader (1972) that all of the students at my small town school were forced by soldiers to go to the gym. We all stood on the gym floor in a circle. They said that whoever believes in Jesus step forward. We all looked around the circle, finally I stepped forward. The only one who did. I woke up. I've had a knowing that during my lifetime I will probably be going through persecution. It has come for the most part in subtle forms, still very painful but I have a feeling it's going to get ramped up. Corrie Ten Boom said, "There is no pit so deep that God is not deeper still". God IS faithful.

For the last 4 years after God's saving Grace and wake up call 🤙 I have not had a day when I have not read his word, I can't stop reading it it's truly transformed me within, it's hope, healing medicine for the soul.ive read the entire bible 4 times now from old testament to new testament both are very important to the lives of Christian people who love the Lord Jesus. There are days I can't put it down and just read and read and meditate on his word. If more Christian people read his word they would not get so deceived by doctrines of demon's wolves coming into churches. God has saved my life and I was in so much depths of despair before, demons opressed me on every side I'm free now from the chains ⛓️ the enemy had me bound up in. If Lord Jesus can do it for me, he can certainly do it for you, for anyone else who is yet to make a choice of whom you are going to serve. God is a good good Father ❤❤❤

10 years ago, as a nondenominational Pastor, I was trying to be added to the marriage registry of ontario so that i could perform legal marriages, but because they, the governing body, wanted to see copies of my marriage ceremony and related sermons, I declined. It’s amazing because I have been thinking about this I was saved in 2016 and I have been writing verses and noted on sermons and I have a lot of pads of years and with this thought that they might want to take our bibles from us one day and at least I have my notes for my children one day to have when they will not be allowed to have the Word of God. And.... there already is a law that was passed like this, trying to make part of the Bible illegal, here in the US, now, it is bill HR 6090. I have heard pastors talking about it on youtube. This is all interesting timing. But that is how it starts, incrementally and then all of a sudden. But it is the end times and the persecution is coming and the church will be here for the whole thing until the last trumpet at the end.
