Drugs, crime, and homelessness are taking over much of San Francisco - although billions are being spent toward a solution, the city's problems are compounding.
A recent report from the University of California San Francisco shows that California accounts for one-third of all homeless people in the U.S.
"People are just free to destroy their lives out in the open," said one local. "Crack, meth - I see it seven days a week."

Democrats do better on economics than Republicans. All the major recessions and depressions are caused by GOP administrations. Newsom isn't perfect but we had the GOP in office the solution would be to just throw everyone in prison. The GOP complains but would block all policies that would end this like universal healthcare, public housing, jobs programs, etc.

I was in Berkeley in 90 and ran into so many homeless on the streets begging for help. I never lasted 10 min every morning for money I couldn't afford to give. It was like Chicago 10x the transient and actually cleaner than Chicago at the time. I would not hit NORCAL today for any reason. A dook peppered street with great weather. The US is getting dystopian for the "less than" upper-class every day. EAT THE RICH. It is so heartwarming knowing that gated communities allow for our policy makers of this country. THEY SURE KNOW BETTER THAN US. At least how to bleed the people to make it to where they are. US and them.

At the very least, I now grasp the concept of leverage. Creating wealth and financial freedom isn't as tough as many people believe. Participating in financial programs and products is the only true approach to make a high income and remain affluent indefinitely.

Most people simply enter the foreign exchange market without comprehending matters like this. The first stage in building money is determining your goals and risk tolerance, which you may do on your own or with the assistance of a financial counselor who works with a verified Finance agency. I totally agree with you! I'm in Oregon, and downtown Portland is a off limits zone for us, same as se & ne Portland. The town has become a place of lawlessness. Lots of shootings now. The theives get picked up, spend a day or so in jail, even car theives, then released b4 their court dates? Then the cycle repeats. The Decriminalization of drugs in Oregon with measure 110, has ruined this city. So now drug addicts are showing up from other states, to take advantage of free camping, free hand outs from the state, and shoplifting with basically no consequences, it's a catch & release system currently. The laws need to be changed, the G O V could fix it, but for some odd reason they're not doing anything, and they have funding? It seems to be trending this way in different towns all over USA. Maybe this is part of their plans for their N E W W O R L D O R D E R aka or der out of cha o s? Everyone will be so sick of whats going on in their cities, they'll want to conform to their new plan. Pretty soon smart cities will be popping up all over, then cashless society will start up M O T B. Everyone that submits will be scanning their skin to pay for stuff. I am a disabled, homeless woman. I live in the Bay Area, in a converted transit bus, along with my husband and three dogs. Angela Alioto is RIGHT. The real problem behind the homeless crisis is CORRUPTION by both nonprofit organizations, and political representatives. Billions of dollars are being spent to supposedly solve this problem, but hardly ANY of the money is actually getting to the people who it is intended to benefit. Homeless people are vilified as morally degraded thieves, but WE are not the ones who are stealing taxpayer money. It's the politicians and nonprofit entities who are actually taking all the funding, without providing anything in return. The laws against urban camping make it so that MY VERY EXISTENCE IS A CRIME. Where exactly is it that I am I supposed to go??? 'Transitional housing' is a collosal waste. As the number of permanent housing units is far less than the number of people who need homes, when someone's has reached the maximum amount of time they are allowed to stay at a shelter, they just transition back onto the street again. This entire crisis could have been completely fixed already, at a fraction of the cost, simply by the development of RV/mobile home parks - but CA property owners are afraid that solving the problem will ultimately have a negative impact on property values, and therefore refuse to embrace the one thing that might actually solve the problem. Homeless people have less influence, less money, and less power, than anyone else in the social hierarchy. How is then that WE are responsible for the situation? Stop harassing us, and destroying everything we have, and just change the land use ordinances/zoning laws to allow for the development of RV parks. This entire issue could be solved in less than a month were it for the greed of The Powers That Be.

Zero stress, no rent,no bills, no bill collectors, no job, nobody telling you what to do, Pay no taxes,no electric bill, no car payment, nothing. Free food, bed and shower at the homeless shelter. If I woke up with 2 dollars in my pocket, that meant I could drink with the boys and gamble In the ally craps game all day. No a worry in the world of what’s happening anywhere else. It was to easy to get comfortable in because there’s so much free stuff given to the homeless. And no, we never went out looking for a job. So when you see these videos of people who been on the streets 10,15 20 years, they are Perfectly happy where there at. It’s by choice. They don’t want all the responsibilities of the working person anymore. They got clothes on their back, somebody is always feeding them and they can always Find someplace to sleep. Whatever money the hustle up is all theirs to get high or drunk And do whatever they want all day long. Don’t feel sorry for them, they wouldn’t trade places with you. They feel sorry for you, running around like a chicken with your head cut off everyday, Trying to keep up with the jones. All SF has to do is stop tolerating it. It used to be illegal to be in possession of drugs, or paraphernalia, or even under the influence. Now they literally just let it run rampant because forcing people to dry out in a jail cell so that they can re-evaluate themselves, their priorities, and their purpose in life might hurt their feelings! Not to mention, god forbid SF builds a new jail to house criminals in. If you don't have anywhere to put people who break the law to keep them off of the streets then it doesn't matter whether or not you have a police force.

The father and mother unit is the most significant predictor of outcome as concluded by Patrick Moynihan's 1965 report for President Johnson . The democrats were not interested as their focus was the southern manifesto to continue segregation. 40 years ago 50 % of black households are single women with no father , which is the same today.

The services in SF for the homeless are some of the best in the world, which is why so many homeless people end up there. But providing free meals and services when what the city gets in return is cholera-conditions and garbage dumps for streets, that makes no sense because you reward not just bad but illegal behavior.

This was me six-and-a-half years. I'm a child of two addicted parents and also a Bay area oakland-alameda native. Unfortunately I picked up those habits and I was an avid drug user on the streets of Oakland and West Oakland from the ages of 19 to 23. I've encountered numerous dangerous situations being homeless and a young woman on the streets. I had to get out of California to get clean from drugs. In my opinion if there is any glimmer of hope for homeless that are addicted, they need to get up and away from Cali cause right now it's a cesspool breeding ground for drugs.

If my car goes down again and it’s more than I have and can’t afford to rent a vehicle we’re is the best place to get shelter and job away from drug zones? I’m in the Deep South and cant walk 50 miles a day. What’s the best city, if I get down to 1k for a bus ticket. No family or any possibility for someone to help me for a ride to work so I need to figure out something. I can sleep on a cot and work 80s a week but need transportation. I entered some auto give aways but never get called but I have one left. I definitely spent more than I should over the years and could have done better. I should have eaten much cheaper and not used material things. Just your opinion what’s the best cities that want to help?

SF seems to provide good services to the drug addled homeless creating a 'Field of Dreams'. To quote Ray Kinsella - "If you build it, they will come". Liberal State and City policy is the sole reason for the magnitude of the problem.

I understand their struggles, but many of them are NOT mentally ill and DO have families. They refuse to take responsibility for their livelihood, and engage in reckless behavior that their families (rightfully) won’t tolerate. My oldest cousin is “homeless.” He has a huge, loving family and he likes taking drugs. He never wanted to work, even as a teen/young adult. Always lazy. I don’t feel sorry for him. Efforts to help him have resulted in other family members suffering. One even died trying to help him. “The help they need” is often generously offered by their families.
