@@cbrepairguyThe second pattern is distorted. This will cause harmonics disturbances on Broadcasts and TV's
@cbrepairguy18 күн бұрын
@@g.h.2800 first off, what distortion you see is insignificant it's just at the brink. Secondly, is now going to cause disturbances on broadcasts and TVs unless you're running a 1970s model TV and then you would have to be awful close to the signal. If you turn it down just a little bit the pattern straightens right out. No different than turning a stereo up to the point of distortion. The operator has total control.

Thanks for posting. I wish someday there would be a radio with a decent S meter like the Icom 7300 or Xiegu 6200 (the 6200 even has -dBm which is extra awesome!)

Best sounding mobile CB radio ever was the TRAM brand. As soon as you heard one on the air, you knew what it was.

The scope was clipping on neg peaks....Right after the higher wattage adjustment. Why don't you run a 1khrz for audio? strange
@heinerrambold888926 күн бұрын
Yes, it probably draws quite some current with IRF transistors. Built a pa from China some time ago with really huge IRFs and they produce good power up to 20MHz. On 10m you get 25W out with 15W in!!! But there are no driver or predriver transistors on the pcb.
@cbrepairguy26 күн бұрын
There really not the choice for 11 meters but I think because they are cheep is why they use them. They are not properly tuned at 50 ohm so you have an impedance mismatch as it is and the hotter they get the more current they draw.
@heinerrambold888926 күн бұрын
@@cbrepairguy Yes, true, MRFs or RDs are too expensive for them!!

Seems like a prime candidate for upgrading the power jack to the XT90 connector.
@cbrepairguyАй бұрын
It would take a little work as the casting on the housing is very close to the power connector. It would take some grinding to make it happen.

@@Macjohn1419did it sound bad, or the scope showed something you think you perceive. Audiophiles are nuts also, believe they have super human powers of an O-scope.
@Macjohn14197 күн бұрын
@@Dingleberry1856, you are the one who is relying on the scope. I rely on what I hear and although the scope may appear to look good, the actual audio definition to the ear sounds overblown and harsh. By the way, I’m not an audiophile. The unmodded radio sounds perfect and intelligible. I replayed the before and after several times and it’s night and day difference. Not being an audiophile, that says a lot. Just saying.
