I too used to sneak a small transistor radio under my covers and listen to this each night before I fell asleep.

Back in the early 1970's when I was a Teenager in Detroit I would listen to Mystery Theater with E. G. Marshall every night beginning at 8 pm. It came on one of the local AM stations. I loved listening to all of the episodes and just today I wondered if You Tube might have any or all of the Episodes and find myself pleasantly surprised. I subscribed immediately just a few minutes ago. I looked forward to listening to each new episode after a long day at School and work.

I would listen to this program on my small radio while I was in bed as it came on the on my local radio station at 10pm Mtn time. I actually remember listening to this episode. I was 11 years old at the time. It’s hard to believe that was 40 years ago.Thanks for posting these programs.

Listened at bedtime, at 10:03pm, in 1972, when I was 9. We lived in Bellevue. WA. , up from San Diego, CA. The sound of the door opening is one you won't forget , not to mention Mr. E.G. Marshall's voice and skillful narration, love it still!

This is a fairly simple story, but i find i come back and listen to it repeatedly. One of the strong points is that i find i really like the protagonists and sympathize with their plight. And its even better when a nice girl can actually meet a good, if a bit corny man in the process. Seeing so much injustice all around me, i think i love going to this story, and seeing a couple of good, ordinary people take on a den of evil and see just a little bit of justice be done. Yes, it is a simple concept, but too often rare in real life :)
@beverlyhenderson8592 жыл бұрын
Yes, we thirst for justice and our thirst rarely filled without compromise. And to think about it, this story line plot probably happens more than we know...(just listened to it again tonight for like the 14th time😆😆)

I work PRN as a therapist and the physical conditions of facilities are better but I don't like working at SNFs because it's like "assembly-line work." Therapists have to work at a certain effeciency standard so there isn't much time to give personal attention like getting a glass of water or looking for something that is misplaced! It's sad...and disgusting how companies profit. Some of those places need those dogs to "administer justice!"
@williamnorton95477 жыл бұрын
Cyn K It's even worse with the "for profit" prisons: They shoehorn a boatload of prisoners in a cell that barely has room for one, not to mention that they throw turnstile jumpers in with murderers.

William Norton have you seen the 1946 movie, "Bedlam" by the great producer, Val Lewton, and stars Boris Karloff? Bethlem hospital is the setting, and well worth watching. It's based on the Hogarth paintings, "A Rake's Progress".

Excellent posting...creepy bldg photo and episode playback! I'm a long time fan of CBSRMT going on 40 years now. In the 1990s, a San Diego station had played the radio show, and I had recorded via tape cassettes but never heard this particular episode. Do you know why these were never sold as prepackaged CDs or some other audio format? If there were original stereo recordings available would be cool. In the meantime, always love these postings with or w/o the radio commercials!
@ChillySunshine8 жыл бұрын
No I don't know the reason they were never made available but I do know that Himan Brown had the recordings saved in great quality and they've been transferred to a safe format (Presumably Digital) according to his Granddaughter, after his death she posted on one of the Old Time Radio sites about it.
