The art of video games

Computer gaming is not commonly thought of as art, but that's how video games are being treated in a new exhibit at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Correspondent Rita Braver reports.

I personally think it's art... if it's something you create and make it animated for others can manipulate this artwork.. done by computer then it's art. :)

skyrim is art too.. in general ALL videogames are artistic works of beauty rendered with music.. and amazing storyline.. it's like a portrait half book you manipulate if you will.

Ha... i'm 56, am I an adult? I've written game mods in my "spare" time (hundreds of hours) and play 10 hours of games for every hour of tv/movies I watch. I urge my software development team to play games as much as they can because that's where all the real creativity is these days.

I don't think that ALL the classic video games we're art though, but the making through a collaboration of pixels to assemble a character, background and techno beat music sounds cool, but I don't think games like space invaders(maybe), Yars revenge, and video chess should count.
