Lexington market got its start buying and selling slaves. Never forget that.
@jackmeyers92912 жыл бұрын
There is no proof that Lexington Market ever sold slaves. It was always a outdoor produce type market until a fire in 1949

Africans were enslaved by their own people, and sold them to Europeans. Never forget that. Slavery continues in Africa today, but not in the U.S.

I use to do deliveries there and all the vendors had store rooms in the basement of the building. When I tell you it looked just like a jail down there, it was so eerie. You could feel the pain and horror as you walk through long concrete corridors with literally little cells. Not to mention you could easily get lost down there (keep them from escaping of course)

The vaults under Lexington Market were used as slave pens and the tunnels were used to move slaves from the inner harbor. This history is already well known

And I’m glad they didn’t because what sane person would want to keep living in the past and reminding themselves of traumatic events? Smh that makes no sense whatsoever.

I understand it’s “ historical “ but it also was a place slaves were held. Tear it down and let those spirits free.
