As a radio operator all it takes is a kid or some one playing with a bofang radio they run from $100 to $35.99 on cost so all I have to say is look on eBay and Amazon and see who orders one and confiscate thows radios. A lot of parents are buying them for there kids these days as toys they can and will set off the warning systems.

Imagine a message blared on any whelen or EOWS siren. "Attention. Attention. To the people who hacked and activated the sirens, do not think it is over. It's not. We WILL find you. And when we do, there will be serious consequences. Unless you turn yourself in now, your punishment won't be as bad." And repeat it 3 or 4 more times. O_O

Even encryption won't be perfect and I bet there is a smartass in Dallas that will at some point break through the encryption and set all the Sirens off again in the middle of the night again within the next few years

Any of us in the ham world this is kindergarten level shit. DTMF/2-Tone is the most common. The FS has afsk ability. But most I’ve expirenced are using dtmf/2-tone. Any handheld dtmf radio I have you can also send 2 tones on them. It literally takes me a minute to program it in. Then you just pop the TX freq In and to send the dtmf tone. Most are 4 digits on the sirens I’ve heard. All you need to do is listen to a siren test and decode the dtmf tone or listen to the 2 tone. Then program it in the radio basically like a phone number in the cell phone contacts. Then turn to the channel and go click on it in your saved list it will then send the tone out. It’s literally kindergarten radio level to do it. It’s not advanced what so ever. We use it on our repeater sights. At my farm I have all of my gates and lights hooked up to dtmf decoders. My radios are the encoder. It’s simple. And no unless you have a family member tell on the person or they tell on themselves nobody can find out who did it. It’s not traceable.
