It's because they don't have emotional attachedments to anyone or anything. They are only interested in finding happiness, which is playing and having fun. In general, people, and especially those who are little influenced by culture in terms of paying attention to the physical characteristics of people, are really "blind". It is not that they cannot physically recognize the differences, they simply do not pay attention to the differences, because it is not vital for them at a particular stage in life. I was "blind" to differences in skin color until first grade until I was told that I was a colored, narrow-eyed freak. There are different types of color blindness: physical and cultural. Generally speaking.

Haha, I’ve actually been pretty colorblind amongst my own siblings. I’m a much fairer tone than my younger sister, but for some reason I always saw her and I having the same skin tone. (She’s actually much darker!) It only came up to me when my friends mentioned how her character on an online game had the incorrect skin tone (more to my skin shade), and I argued that it was correct! But no, turns out I always saw that she and I had the same color skin when she’s always been much darker. It was sort of a mind blowing moment for me. I never considered it.

That's cute. But a kid telling them they can't be twins at a birthday party isn't discrimination. And if they had different colors of hair and different physical features, with the same skin color, kids would also say they weren't "real twins." That's not discrimination. Also, despite it possibly being rude, stating a fact, which is they aren't real twins, cannot be discrimination (especially when said by another child).

Why would you focus on the differences? I mean this vid points out that we are all equal, we are all the same, and isn't what peoples similarities/same interests that draw them together? sure they have a lot to learn about the real world but it's just so lovely to see these beautiful girls find happiness in each other
@trenae774 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, the differences should be noted for the value they can offer the relationship. I'm white, you're black - what can you share about your life experience that helps me understand your mental and emotional place in life? We need to acknowledge the differences insomuch that we are aware of the issues the other party is facing and how best to support them in those circumstances. The beauty of this is not only are the girls bound at the soul, their mothers are sharing a friendship as well and support them, even as they are on the look-out for threats to that happiness and how best to be there for their children.
@summer-c7i4 жыл бұрын
@@trenae77 I agree. The differences should be acknowledged bc we can learn from each other, fix problems, and cement bonds. And through this growth, learn more or develop similarities that matter, such as how do we handle conflict, how do we feel love? And those bonds are so cemented, that nothing can break them. Including the BS that is racism.
@summer-c7i4 жыл бұрын
@@111yrsold6 Because our differences matter. They help shape our worldviews, positive and/or negative. I don't believe in being colorblind insofar that another race's common experiences get erased or diminished. But I do believe in being colorblind as far as friendship goes, as in, black, white, Asian, or w/e, we're friends. Friendship should be from the heart. I don't believe or partake in the stupid racial stereotypes. Not gonna let racism stop me from being friends with someone. Someone's my friend, so their problems are mine and vice versa. And for me to help, I have to be open to hearing the other side, even if I've never experience what they've experienced.

@@petergiannis9222 Let's not ASSUME those things. It's unfair to assume that just because a person is white that he or she will eventually become racist. I don't want to get political, but I know you're probably going to point out systemic racism or something like that, but even if that does exist, not every white person is racist and not every white person is more privileged than every black person. Let's not make such unreasonable blanket assumptions here and judge how someone might act in the future just because of the color of his or her skin.

This is beautiful. I'm Asian, and my best friend from childhood was black. We were Army brats living on military bases, so we grew up in a diverse community and didn't experience racism until we attended civilian schools. Sadly, she passed away from complications of osteosarcoma when we were 14. It's been 17 years, and I've never really gotten over her death. Cinos that is a good question, and I have thought of that myself. When I was 5 years old, my mom, dad and I came to visit my grandmother. This was my first recollection of her. She was 5 feet tall, had gray hair, wore it in a bun. Wore glasses. My dad went to a dry cleaning place. My mom and I was sitting in the car. Here comes this woman: Five feet tall , had gray hair. Wore it in a bun. Wore glasses. Dressed like my grandmother, same exact shoes. I started hanging out the window yelling. “Grandmother, Grandmother ! Look mama it’s Grandmother.” My mama said “Thats not your grandmother.” I said “Uh, yes it is!” This sweet woman came over and started talking to me. I hugged her neck. She said. “I wish I was your grandmother baby girl, but I’m not”. She was a beautiful black woman. I did not see color. Nothing was said to me as we left. No racism. Who was the first hateful racist person? My great grandparents felt hate when they got to NY, Ellis Island, because my Great Grandfather was Scottish, and my Great Grandmother was Irish. They felt the heat of it too. Spit on, hit, called names. Hate is so STUPID from anyone towards anyone. I’ve been told I have White person guilt. No, I have empathy for anyone who is treated horribly because of who they are. I’ve been treated with such EVILNESS from people my own color many times. Many times. Never have I been treated horribly by people who weren’t the same color as me. Family is what you make it. I have family members I would trade for that sweet woman that came to my window that day in a heartbeat. If there is “anyone” who hates what I just commented about...that’s your problem, and I really don’t care what you think. God bless us ALL!!!😍❤️
