I seriously hope they ban it. I am not a fan of Tik tok at all. I understand we are living in the digital age and learning about and having access to technology is important, but we have to learn to make a better use of these tools and until we come up with a better plan of how to do that then I don't think we should have them. I've never had tik tok because I don't like it. Kids these days are growing up watching whole families become influencers and in my opinion its creating a situation where kids have shorter attention spans, and an unrealistic view of the world. There are too many videos of people performing kind acts where you can clearly see they are doing it for views and attention rather for the sake of doing good. There are also too many videos of people doing stupid pointless pranks or stupid shallow videos that feed into this materialistic society...you know, a society where people wait overnight to buy a cup thats been on the market for decades. I realize the government's reasoning for wanting an American company to buy it has to do more with security but I think they should just ban it. Don't buy. Just get rid of it. I know parents are the ones who should be responsible in monitoring their kids use but let's face it...a lot of parents are either busy working or in some cases don't even care. I'm 34. We had AIM and MSN and myspace when I was in high school but it wasn't a big deal. I didn't spend hours looking at my phone. I couldn't even text a lot because it was still kind of expensive back then. I think people have forgotten that life was a lot more peaceful when they weren't oversharing about their lives on the internet. Anyway, I don't have kids and I would love to have them but I do think a lot about what I would do once I have kids to help them navigate the world as it is today.
